Mark Kempesta had done HVAC work for us. Our HVAC was old and failing. I called him to overhaul the system. He wrote a proposal for a total of $13,875 and we signed a contract on April 15, 2026. He requested an advance of $8500 to acquire parts and material for the work. At his request I gave him two separate checks totaling that amount. He cashed them both the same day and was to start the work by the end of May. As the date approached, I called him on his mobile 860.608.6665 repeatedly since he did not answer. His office 860.822.1971 was evasive and then ceased to answer my calls. The last time I heard from him was June 18, 2026 when he left a voicemail saying he would call, and he never did. On July 17, I did a last attempt to settle the matter and he did not respond to calls, texts or email. I learned then MDK Mechanical had been forfeited in 2022, and that the license in the contract did not exist in the CT government sites.
