Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

on 10/8/2021, I received a USPS priority mail envelope (tracking number 9405 5112 0088 5111 3967 22) with an $1,850 check and an Instruction guide on market vision research letterhead. The instruction guide states to cash the check at my bank and then purchase a $25 money order for Hope children's charity. The instructions also state to purchase several eBay gift cards for no less than $100 each at stores such as target, Lowes, walgrens, 7 eleven, family dollar, home depot, best buy etc. After each gift card purchase, i am asked to scratch off the coating on the back of the gift cards to reveal the claim code and capture the image front & back and then email/text the code along with an evaluation report of customer service about the store to phone numbers 678-532-8248 and 413-299-5887, and email addresses [email protected]; [email protected]. at the completion of the task, i am told i will be provided with an address to send the purchased cashier's check and the eBay Gift cards. I am also told to keep $500 as my compensation.

I received an email from my school about being a secret shopper to earn extra money. I applied and weeks later I was picked. I received a letter with money orders and directions to get gift cards from apple with a sheet for assessment. After I complete the task there was a number I could call to turn in form and the products. My bank informed me the money orders were fake.

I was online searching online for mystery shopping or work at home opportunities. I filled out the survey for mystery shopping providing my name and address. I received a mailing from Market Vision Research. P. O. Box 2100 Phoenix AZ 85001. I also received a check in the mailing for $2000. Instructions were to deposit the check. When clears to notify them for further instructions. 234-564-2381. I did not do anything with the check or call them. I wanted to check with the Better Business First.
