I got a envelope with a cashiers check for $4179.00 with instructions for some assignments to purchase gift cards ,that alone told me it was a scam and who sends anyone that kind of money and the only contact is by text message or email,the number to text was 929-444-9798 ref#814-21 address was 84 Arguello BLVD San Francisco CA 94118-4123 the cashiers check had L&N federal credit union 9265 smyma parkway louisville KY 40229-1415 and drawee republic bank & trust CO.
I tore up the cashiers check and the letter threw it in the trash.

Got a similar setup from florida. I have no intention of doing anything but tearing up the check. But wanted to get some guidance from the good folks on the web for what I should do with it.

I received it on January 19th 2021 I went out on the Monday 25 and went to the Bank and the bank took the check and gave me a copy say the check is no good they told to cash it and gave me a list of stores to go to and buy Gift cards but don't buy 1000 dollars Gift card in one store but the check in no good the amount is 4,179 to spend 3500 on Gift cards the check number is 53316713
