I had applied for a loan online and started to receive a ton of loan offer emails. One of which was from LightStream Finance, which I Googled to find out was an actual loan division of Sun Trust Bank. Everything seemed legit. They asked me to verify my bank account by taking money they deposited into my account and purchasing Target gift cards and then giving them the numbers on the Target gift cards. I am not a stupid individual, this sounded odd, but I desperately needed the loan and figured there was no way this could be a scam because how would they be making money? They were giving me the money to get the gift cards so it's not like I was coming out of pocket for them. It turns out they were actually filing claims on my bank account for that money I was spending on the gift cards, so after I reported them to the bank as fraud, they bank then took all that money back out of my account, overdrawing it thousands of dollars. My bank account is now compromised, all of my money is gone, and these people will keep preying on vulnerable people who are looking for loans. They sent me a very convincing loan offer using the Sun Trust logo and everything. Again, the company they are impersonating DOES EXIST which is what threw me off. In hindsight, I should've known better, but when you're desperate, sometimes that clouds your judgement. I saved all the gift cards and recepits they asked me to purchase, though I'm sure they've emptied the amount on them by now. I don't want this to happen to anyone else, and I also would like my money and my life back! Please help!
