I received an email stating I was chosen to be a Secret Shopper for Walgreens/CVS. I did sign up to be a secret shopper a few months ago but couldn't remember who it was for, so I thought this was ligit. This is the email I received.

Hello Tonya,

You submitted your information to work as a Survey Evaluator. Your details have been verified and you are shortlisted as one of our representatives in your area. Here is your user I.D number MS64754, your details have been stored in our database.

Kindly acknowledge you received this message and signify your interest with a Yes, I'm Ready and also confirm if the below information is correct.

So I followed the instructions and deposited the check. I am so thankful that the Walgreens didn't have what they were asking for and it gave me a chance to slow down and fully read the letter. That is when I figured it out that it was a scam and immediately called the bank to cancel the deposit.

Scam alert

Received a priority mail letter with a check for $1755. In the letter it explained that I recently sent an application to be a secret shopper. I was to deposit the check into to my bank and the check would clear within 24 hrs. I was then to go to 3 stores on there list and purchase a $400 apple gift card at 3 different locations with a total of $1200. Then I was to peel the security sticker off the back of them and send the scammer pics of the front and back of the cards, and fill out a survey to the service of the merchant services. The letter states I would receive $500 for the job and & $55 for gas all was included I. The check I received.
