I thought I had called IDoor when my garage door would not go up, but KM Garage Door came instead. They said they were local, and my wife needed to get out of the house for an appointment The tech replaced a broken left-side spring and the right spring as well. He also recommended I replace the Liftmaster opener since he determined it wasn't functioning properly. I gave him the go ahead and he installed a Chamberlain belt-drive opener. Everything is working okay, but I noticed later that the opener was struggling a bit to lift the 16'X7' double-wide door. The tech installed a 1/2 HP opener and it probably should have been a 3/4 HP opener for that much weight.

The reason for this horrible review is not about the installation, but the pricing. It is clearly off the charts. The springs were billed at $650, but the highest price I found on the web was $142. The Chamberlain opener cost me $725, but that model is $199 at Home Depot. They charged $300 for a rail that's $92 on the web. The real killer is $300 for sensors that go for $44 everywhere else, and the sensors were never installed. I was charged $210 for two remotes that are $70 for two at Home Depot, but one remote already comes with the opener. After charging $70 for a $32 push button opener and $595 for 2 hours of labor and a $143 service fee, whatever that is, the total was $2,993.

I realize that the web prices I found need to be factored up since most businesses build in some profit margin on parts. Using a 50% markup on parts, estimating labor at $200/hour, and taking that $143 service fee (again, whatever that is) down to $100, I determined that the bill should have been at the very most around $1,400 and not the $2,993 I was charged. Total scam. Don't hire these guys.
