I placed a $100 refundable deposit with Kingpin Siamese Cattery, operated by Katia Kingston, for a kitten at an agreed-upon price before 2025. On February 3, 2025, she confirmed the kitten’s birth under the agreed terms. However, on February 4, 2025, she unexpectedly raised the price by $200, stating I must either pay the higher amount or she would return my refundable deposit. When I objected, she repeatedly offered to refund my deposit instead of honoring the original agreement.
Despite stating in writing that the deposit was 'fully refundable, no questions asked,' she later sent a refund check that deducted an undisclosed fee without prior explanation. I received the check on February 16, 2025, but have not cashed it because doing so would mean accepting the unauthorized deduction.
This is a bait-and-switch pricing scheme and an unfair trade practice. She changed the price after commitment, misrepresented her refund policy, and withheld part of the deposit without prior agreement. Others should be warned before doing business with this breeder.
