I was approached by a man who was walking around asking for donations for a children's sports team. He showed me a website and flyer saying that they were raising money for the kids in the community to have new equipment. I agreed to make a purchase for the children of $54.99. I made the payment via Square on a mobile device using my digital wallet. A few minutes later, I received an email from Square showing me a charge for $144.98. The breakdown showed my $54.99 charge in addition to an unauthorized $89.99 tip which I did NOT leave. I have reason to believe that this business is fraudulently charging people by adding a "tip" after walking away without the target's authorization/consent.
