Appears NOT to be Legit

The email looked real as if it came from Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, but they communicated via email in May that they received my documents and would begin processing my unclaimed property. Nothing was received in two months so I wrote them again. Today they replied that they were going to BEGIN processing my unclaimed property which would take at least ten weeks to arrive. I asked them to call me to explain and they did not. I reported the issue to Kaiser and will now contact the State Controller's Office and three credit bureaus to see if they are attempting to use my deceased relative's name, SSN and DOB.

It's actually LEGIT

I did my due dillagence. Called Kaiser. Went through rabbit holes. But the Kaiser operative told me that the Escheatment Program is a real thing and the phone number she gave me to call matched the one on the super sketchy email. Of course, when you call the number it says that due to covid they are not taking calls. BUT, the fact that the Kaiser operator gave me the same number makes me confident enough to send in my sensitive data.

Type of a scam Identity Theft

Letter received stating unclaimed property for a check issued in 2013 to me was never cashed. This was supposedly "Kaiser Permanente Escheament Program" They requested copies of my drivers license and social security card. I called Kaiser and they did not have a check that matched the number provided nor could they verify the phone number given as a legitimate Kaiser number. They said they were asking for information that didn't sound like anything Kaiser would ask for.
