Received a really rude phone call from a guy with an accent saying he was Officer Jones and we owed the IRS $3,000 and if we didn't pay within 72 hours, a police officer named Officer White would come and take us away in cuffs to the court house. He added we should pay be voucher, not check.

Yeah, right buddy! Let me talk to Officer Smith while we're making up names! He also gave a false badge number, address, and 800 number. I asked him for the phone number he was calling on now (which was a 320 area code number). He told me he didn't have to tell me. I asked him again for the number he called me on and he hung up. I could hear another guy in the background on the phone too. Trying to scam someone else!

I received several calls this week from a number that originated in Bobota, Columbia. It was a recording that said this was my last chance. The IRS was going to file a lawsuit on me about my taxes. They gave me a number to call back 571-599-8178. I never called the number back. My cell indicated that the original call came from Bogota, Columbia. When I called that back it was a recording in a different language. I just hung up!

Phone number out of Washington DC leaving voice message claiming I am being sued and to call immediately. It is an automated call leaving the message. I just don't respond.

Received IRS lawsuit call on my cell phone. Told me to call the ASAP but I did reply as I knew I didn't have any issues with the IRS and of course they wouldn't call me if they wanted something from me. They would send a registered letter I think for sure.

Called my home phone yesterday and talked to my husband. He knew that is was a scam and gave the guy a hard time. The number that called my home phone was 346-204-8410. My husband was able to call that number back yesterday.

Received call on my cell phone it was an automated message saying that the call was my last notice and that the IRS would be filing a lawsuit against me and stated a number for me to call back, which was the same number that came up on the caller ID. After the message I hung up but did not call back.

this started on 10-26-15 saying they have a law suit against me for income tax not being paid. Then on 11-5-15 I received another phone call from Granger, Wa. phone #509-383-4385 and then again with phone #509-383-4526 and his name was Fred Martin and it was for taxes 2009-2014 with a mistake for 4,500.00 and then I was told the sheriff would be at my door and arrest me and it could go to 7,500.00 and if I wasn't home an warrant would be written to arrest me and I said I wanted to talk to an American as this was foreign and couldn't understand him so another guy came on the phone and assuming it was the same guy and his name was Jason Williams phone #202-239-2301 Senior officer treasure dept. They also told me someone had been to my home in Jan. and Feb. but no answer so they took pictures of my home. I said I wanted this in black and white and will contact my lawyer.I hung up.

Have received several recorded messages (at least 5-6) in the past couple of days stating that our case will be turned over to the county offices and we will be arrested if we do not return the call from the IRS. This is a robo call. Very annoying.

While at work cell phone went off. Did not recognize phone number so I did not answer. Message left and was told that I will be getting legal action and arrested by local authorities. First part of message was cut off. I proceeded to call the number that left the message out of curiosity. The phone number is 360-663-4460. Someone with a strong accent answered the phone. I was told that they went back to 2008-2012 and audited my taxes. They are with the IRS and I am going to be taken to court. I told them to mail me something in writing so I can have my attorney look at it. They said they previously mailed me something and would not again. I will see them in court. I said ok and that was the end of the phone call. I knew this was a scam and am shocked at how they can gain access to cell phones and do this to us US citizens. I have always have my taxes done by a tax preparer/accountant.

Consumer received a call from a lady (no name given) saying she was from IRS saying he owed money (message did not say how much). The message said the IRS is filing a law suit against him. The number that called him was 509-872-5245.

On Friday Nov. 6th I got a call from fake IRS scammers. These people are calling from several numbers such as: (425) 320-4801 as well as a (346) 971-6231, both of which no-longer work.

They claimed they were making this final attempt to contact me as a courtesy “to protect me” because they said I owed $101.00 back taxes and that because of late fees the amount had gone to $3,500.00 and that they would be turning my account over to a collection agency if I didn't pay them in cash with-in the hour.

These people even told me that because of dishonest people that they could not accept checks, debt, or credit but only cash. These are scammers and they are phishing for your personal information.

These shysters ask me if I were a xxxxx  that lives in xxxxx, NC with a xxxxx zip code (Of course I lied and said yes) but when I ask them to spell it and they were actually asking for a xxxxx (I guess their reading of English is as bad as their spoken English dialect).

If you call them back, they answer the phone saying they are the IRS but to me my first clue was that they spoke with foreign accents. When I ask them for some form of ID they give me what I’m sure were false American sounding names of xxxxx and xxxxx with a standard IRM-1102 #. When I told them that another person had just given me that same # as their ID number they hang-up then.

I tried to report this to the actual IRS toll-free number of 1 (800) 829-1040 but all you can get is pre-recorded messages.

Please do NOT give these people any of your information including your actual name or the # you are calling from as your personal phone number (tell them it is your neighbors number because your personal phone has been disconnected). Please tell your family and friends especially the elderly about these type of scams so they will not be taken advantage of by these lowlife’s.

When these lying crooks said that if I did not pay within the hour that the police would be coming to my front door to arrest me and that they would put a freeze on all of my bank accounts and seize all of my property and that I would then have to pay what would turn into $75,000.00, for late fees and a fine. I started laughing and told them to go ahead and call the police and that's when they hung-up on me again. LOL!!! I actually enjoyed phishing for information from them these dummies.

Automated call saying the irs is going to file a lawsuit against me if I don't call the number they provide.

- Lake Preston, SD, USA

Left a message on my home phone and basically said it was a final notice and they were filing a lawsuit against me. Described themselves as Internal Revenue Services. The s on the end tipped me off immediately. I tried calling the number to get more info but got no answer.

- Southern Pines, NC, USA

Phone call indicated that the IRS had been trying to reach me (not by name). Said that they were about to file suit. The number that the call came from (from caller ID) and the number to which the call should to be returned were the same. It was a 202 area code which is the Washington, DC, area. I think that the IRS does notifications by mail so didn't return the call figuring it was a scam looking for SS number, etc. Three calls came in before I blocked the number.

- Sioux Falls, SD, USA

So I called the number back for fun and they asked for my acct number they left me and I said they never gave me one so he asked my social and I said I would never give that over the phone and he hung up on me. So I called back again and this time he answered Internal Revenue Service and I said wow your getting more professional this time and I told them to get a real job like the rest of have to and said I was reporting it the BBB. He asked if I was done yet. The phone number they called from was 360- 335-3137 hope this helps

Samantha Wynn left a message stating that legal action will be taken by the IRS. Must call back 347-539-4269
