hotelvalue.com is a third party hotel booking site that advertises low nightly rates, then when you pay, tacks on an extra $100-150 per night fee for tax recovery and "fees". I didnt notice it until well past when we stayed at the hotel, because i was sending it to friends to split the cost. When i called to talk to them, they offered 10% back - a fraction of the difference - and i was not allowed to speak to a manager or supervisor.

Booked a room with Embassy Suites in San Rafael, Ca. The charge went to Hotelvalue.com instead of Embassy Suites. The Embassy Suites never got the booking, no record of it whatsoever. Come to find out, they are a very professional looking site. Had to cancel the charge and my credit card because the hotel would not help me cancel (since they don't even see a charge with my name at all). Beware--everything looks legit, but total scam. If you go to scampulse.com, you'll see many complaints of others that were scammed also!

I booked 2 hotel rooms for my son and myself for my sister's wedding through this hotel booking site. Although the room charges were $350.00, the fees were $191.00. I was unable to reach anyone by phone or email. There is an automated phone message that notifies the caller that you can cancel, but the entire charge is non refundable.
