HomeImprove1 Reports & Reviews (2)

I received an email to my business email on September 5, 2023 from [email protected] stating my business had been selected to be featured in a online home improvment listing site (HomeImprove1). They provided hyperlinks to my "listing" and instructions to sign in with an email. I was suspicious as my business does not sell online or do any online marketing aside from local facebook and instagram posts for closed groups.

I followed the link to see what was their goals and discovered a new "featured account" with my business name, logo, physical address, contact information and more. They had taken all of my advertising posts and turned them into a pooly writen blog and claimed my photographs and artwork as their own materials. I was furious at this breach of privacy including my home based business address and use of my intellectual property. I wanted to have them remove the listing. I was not the only business on the site as there were literally thousands of small businesses with just as much exposure listed from all over the United States and internationally.

I went to their complaints / "contact us" area on their site and demanded they remove the listing and threatened them with legal action. They did not respond to this form.

I them returned to my email and sent a reply demanding they remove my listing, threatened them with legal action and epressing how disgusting their actions were by them posting all my information without contacting me prior and targeting small businesses via Facebook and Instagram. This email was not responded to. However, the listing was down within 6 hours.

The site is still fully accessible and up at this time on September 7th.

After looking through the site more in depth, it is at best a site run by clueless technology company and a worst a flagrant scam to collect and distribute private business imformation. They clearly have no concept of copyright or intelectual property and they include a section of "legal" disclaimers that are not valid in the United States and much of the world. I also never agreed to being on the site, signed any paperwork, or was even contacted prior. I was lucky to catch it but their are still many business that are still on the site.

Hi there, Did you get a name of anyone by any chance? I received similar email from homeimprove1.com today and thought dodgy. It sounds so similar to a previous scam we got involved with, with the persons name Stephen Wright here in Perth, Western Australia. Just curious if he has now gone global. Wouldnt put it past him.
