Notified by mail that a warranty on my home was about to expire. It implied that such a warranty was required by my mortgage lender. It encouraged me to buy such a warranty. When I contacted my mortgage lender, I was told they required no such warranty.

- Cleveland, OH, USA

I received a post card on Friday stating this is your warranty activation notice advising you to contact our office so you don't have a lapse in your coverage. Please call the number provided to replace electrical, mechanical systems outside the home. I tried contacting them and there was a recording saying they were closed. They had a picture of my house.

- Wichita, KS, USA

Vague piece of postal mail delivered that referenced my mortgage lender on front. Once perforated tabs opened, revealed a faux check (no MICR line or regulatory standards), but $199.00 under an 'Allocated Waiver' description. Attention notice was of the 'Final' variety and just referenced our names, address, and that our mortgage was facing the loss of some allocated waiver within 7 days if contact is not made immediately.

- Morrison, CO, USA

Received postcard with my spouse’s correct name and address imprinted on it, bearing the message that a warranty for our home ‘mechanical systems’ was going to expire and needed to be renewed for ongoing ‘protection’. Was directed to call the phone number on the card to make payment (no payment amount indicated). Postcard bore no company name or website, only the telephone number reported. The card looked like an official government mailing, without postage but stamped as if sent by an official government agency (none identified) with wording to indicate official U.S. bulk mailing that (allegedly) had been mailed from a U.S. city, possibly St. Lewis, MO, ( I can’t remember the exact city now, and am not be 100% certain, but I do recall that it indicated it had been sent from somewhere in the Midwest USA, not Washington DC, which I thought odd). Unfortunately, I shredded the card after I realized it was a scam and before I decided to report it to the BBB.

Got two final notices for home warranty in the mail in the last 6 months. They have no identifying information except 1 number 1-800-692-4491

- Portland, OR, USA

Received a letter addressed to my husband saying our Home Warranty may not be up to date. They had the name of our bank.

- Grants Pass, OR, USA

Received a letter in the mail addressed to me from a Mr. James Miller, Program Director. Company is not named in the entire letter. Letter title IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED. and goes on to say that my home warranty may be expiring or may have already and that I have until 06/11/2024 to contact this Mr. Miller

Since we have no mortgage and have l lived here for 20 years it was obvious that this was a scam.

- Norwalk, CT, USA

They used a change of address on my mortgage company to send a letter implying that the mortgage company wants me to keep my home warranty up to date. The letter says that the warranty is expiring, but I don't have one.

- Houma, LA, USA

The letter received in the mail contained the home address and the recipient homeowner. This letter contained the same information as previously submitted claims such as the phone number and the signer of the received letter.

- Winnetka, IL, USA

Knew name of prior lender and referenced in note to activate home warranty.

Letter stated home warranty secured by First National Bank/Chicago is expiring and to contact them so there isn’t a lapse of coverage. They said First National may have had the loan for even a short period of time or got it for another bank. Never had a loan from First National or other institute in over 40 years.

- Evansville, IN, USA

Scammer used the name in which my mortgage is assigned to and tried to convince me that my home warranty through that mortgage would soon expire and I would be at risk of costs if any home repairs were neeeded.

I received a letter in the mail marked "Final Notice" , Home warranty was expired through my bank, and is "Extremely Urgent & Time Sensitive - Immediate response requested. Ironically the home has been paid off for over 30 years, and the bank listed no longer even exists (LOL) Upon calling them, they could not provide a tangible Office address for me, or website and upon me asking if I I went onto the ScamPulse.com website to assure they were a credible company they said yes go right ahead. So not only did I go to the ScamPulse.com site and could not find them, I also called and spoke to a rep from the ScamPulse.com who assured me this was a scam. I'm reporting this to hopefully help others, especially senior citizens don't fall prey to these type of scam artists!

My mother, 93, who lives in Senior apartment received this notice that the property's home warranty at her address my be expiring or may already have. Failure to call and prevent a potential lapse in coverage could result in being liable for all vosts associated with any home repairs. Then they indicate it was important to call their office to avoid delays in coverage. I intercepted this mail and called the number to investigate what/why are they targeting seniors to purchase coverage when they live in an apartment. They hung up. I just wanted their number and organization to be exposed. There is no return address on this notice. They even put an expiration date wintin 5 days of receipt for them to respond to avoid any unnecessary delays in their coverage. This is shameful!!

Recieved a post card with County Deed Records heading indicating I had a warranty on dwelling mechanical systems expiring 2-9-2024 advising me to call an 888 number to renew. Never heard of them, have no existing warranties like this, no other identification info about company. Obvious scam - did not respond.

I received a letter with Home Warranty Division at the top and a line with my home loan lender's name. The letter stated: "Immediate response required" and said that my home warrantee is expiring and that I had to call immediately to renew it. It included my home address and stated "Secured by Nova Financial & Investment Corp," which is my mortgage company. Further it stated, "Failure to call and prevent a potential lapse of coverage could result in you being liable for all costs associated with any home repairs." At the bottom, in small print, it says: Not all consumers have previous coverage. We are not affiliated with your current mortgage holder." However, I called before I read that. When I called the number given (800-223-9171) and asked questions about how this was different from my property insurance and if this company was affiliated with my mortgage company, the representative was evasive. As he was pushing me to sign up immediately and have my house inspected, I hung up.
