I believe this marketing mail to be extremely misleading and possibly an outright scam. Using my husbands full name, our home address and a made-up customer ID, a letter claiming to come from Gilpin Financial Services INC (similar in name to our original home mortgage company) attempted to convince us that our non-existent "home warranty" was about to expire. US Home Guard and Warranty Global Group were also listed as affiliated companies. No return address or email address was provided to help authenticate the claim. There is a tiny font disclaimer at the bottom of the page stating that "not all consumers have previous coverage" but the letter goes to some pains to appear legitimately connected to a real account, also to frighten us as homeowners into thinking we've forgotten an important bill.

I received a letter in the mail on 8/12/2024. I do not have a home warranty policy with this business. The letter states "Failure to call and prevent a potential lapse in coverage could result in you being liable for all costs associated with any home repairs. However, you still may have time left to activate a warranty on your home before it's too late. No inspection will be required. Final acceptance is subject to your ability to meet eligibility requirements." It is signed by Wade Grant, Program Director. When I called the number at 888-404-4504, I was asked for my ID number on the letter. When I provided it I was told they had no information on that number. He asked for my last name, but when I said if he can't find the ID number, that must mean I am not in your system, he hung up.
