My grandfather (95 years old) got a postcard in the mail that I found. It offered a “home warranty extension” renewal - he apparently has ALREADY BOUGHT THIS. I called the number and asked for more information, they couldn’t provide any, so I told them to cancel his account. He had paid with a credit card. I do not know how much he paid them.

- Seattle, WA, USA

Received an unsolicited postcard with vague references to home warranty division and county deed records. I did not respond at all.

- Cortland, NY, USA

I received a letter with the voucher for $199.00 from "Home Warranty Dept", curious, I called the number (did not disclose my name or location but can probably be looked up by my phone number), because I wondered how I could have a warranty I never paid for (looked suspicious). The guy refused to answer my questions of what the warranty would covers or an example of what they had covered for others, just kept pushing to send someone to my house to "inspect it" which I refused. When I didn't cooperate he tried to convince me I was not of my right mind and he wanted to talk to someone else in the house. He was very rude and insulting. He never disclosed a company name or his name. And when I hung up, disgusted with him, he called me back immediately and tried to tell me I had no choice but to do this warranty (said he was not asking my permission, stated everyone in the country has to have this warranty) and told me I could not say "no". I told him if anyone showed up they would not be allowed on my property and I hung up. He did not call back again. Never encountered a representative as rude, uncooperative or pushy as this guy was. Definite scam.

- Andover, MN, USA

Got a letter from a company about my home warranty expiring. And if I don't sent $199 now or have no coverage. Clearly a scam as I dont own a home.

- Reidsville, NC, USA

Letter every month from them. They want me to call. It’s obviously a scam.

- Beaverton, OR, USA

Received “final notice” from a mortgage lender that we did use in the past, but using this familiar scam. They wanted us to contact them or our allocated waiver would be revoked. The notice date was supposedly sent on 3/19/2025, but we received the letter on 3/30. The notice had both my name and my wife’s name.

- Portland, OR, USA

Home Warranty calls on the phone, you say you are not interested. They call numerous times. Then they send you this letter with all your mortgage information. It appears to be from your mortgage company but it is not. They have the same colors used by your mortgage company. They send you a check to cash. If you cash the check you just gave them your signature and you just purchased a home warranty program.

- Vancouver, WA, USA

The person I spoke too said that he sees that my home warrantee expired on 3/28/25. He said that the initial renewal is $395 and $367.33/monthly. Then sent me over to another lady that said i qualify for a first-time home buyers deal. These both sounded very legitimate because I have my mortgage through **** ********. I told them I have to talk with my wife about it. She then got more aggressive and said "I think she will understand" at this point I was very weary. So I told them I would call back. She again was very aggressive to get me to pay right away and said they close at 2pm which is in an hour. I disconnected the call.
