Had someone come to my door knocked and didn’t wait until I could get to the door and they shoved a brown envelope through my door and left quickly which I will share with you at the end. The home here is owned with no mortgage at all. This is scary in a bunch of ways, could be someone who is trying to find out who lives in the home to break into it at some point which that way they could have all the information for people 18 years and up for, also just trying to find out people’s identity’s. It is absolutely crazy what people will do. Please be careful out there !

Had the same thing happen to me yesterday in Ottawa. A scruffy looking guy who parked a rusted ford pickup about five houses away came asking to find out who was in my house. Gave me the same letter in a hand written envelope and insisted the bank sent him. Showed his cell phone with my husbands name and out address along with the bank we deal with. I gave him only my first name because I wanted to see what letter he was dropping off. Sent it to my lawyer immediately as we don’t have a mortgage on our home and she researched and said it was a scam in her opinion . I called the number on the sheet and got a voice mail.
Can’t wait to see if they come back lol. My husband will be happy to answer the door the next time

These people have come to my home 4 times and posted notices on my door addressed to 'the occupants'. It said our mortgage holder had requested an occupancy check and wanted the names and phone numbers of all occupants over the age of 18. The initial number given I called and it sounded like the bank that holds the mortgage on my home but it went to someone's voicemail. I then called the general number for my bank and they told me that the phone number I was given was in no way associated with them and they do not ever employ companies to go to their clients' homes for anything. That if for some reason they needed to have me confirm something it would be sent by mail. They told me to disregard it as it is a scam. I also called and checked with my insurance company to make sure that they didn't request a check on my property and they also confirmed they have no association with this company and requested no such thing. They came to my home twice in December and now twice in January. I am ready to call the police because they clearly have ill-intent and continue to show up at my home with no legitimate reason.
