Received an email from Loancare who my mortgage is through stating to call Jason Roy regarding a loan modification that would cut my interest rates to 2.2% making my payment 30% lower. I was not behind or in default of my loan but called anyways because it at first seemed like a plausible email. Once I spoke with Jason he was very hard to understand due to such a heavy accent. He did have some of my personal information but did not know my current interest rate or what my last mortgage payment was, kept wanting me to confirm so I stated "shouldn't you know that" and he said it was for security. I made numbers up and he agreed to them so at that point I know this was a scam.

I received a call from the number 856-432-4447 and the person calling, his name was Jason Roy. He said he was calling about loan modification and that he could get my interest rate to be lowered by 30% and my interest rate lowered to 2.2% and I would be paying less in mortgage payments. He said all I had to do was get my escrow account taken care of by paying 987.11 to get my mortgage our of default and I would being the loan modification which I was approved for while on the phone with him. My mortgage is with LoanCare but the stationary he used for my letter doesn't have my mortgage number anywhere on it. Not even the last four digits which tipped me off. Also when i called Jason back he didn't answer the call with the name of the company he works for he just says this is Jason. Didn't ask any authorization question, such as verifying my address, name, phone number,
