Zombie Debt Collection Scam

Received a missed call with a voicemail stating they would be attempting to serve me between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM and if they didn't serve me after two attempts a judgement would be made against me without my consent.

I called the number back they provided, the person answered Harrison and Hall Litigation, and I gave them the case number. They stated I was being sued for non repayment of a student loan and it was the school suing me. When I stated I had proof I had paid my student loans and could provide such proof to them they said it wasn't the school, it was CSC, California School Coalition and it was a private loan.

I ended the call, called my school and confirmed I was in the clear. Called "Harrison and Hall" back and asked to confirm information. The details they gave me the second time were different than the first.

They again said it was my school suing me, then corrected that it was CSC. Confirmed CSC stood for California Student Coalition. The first call they said a process server was going to serve me, the second call they said it was a package of paperwork and would have a docket number. Then, after I receive the paperwork they would file a lawsuit (if there's a docket number that means a lawsuit has been filed and a judge has been appointment). I asked when I would be served and was told they don't serve people lawsuits, they settle debt cases privately to avoid lawsuits. I ended the call and did a deep dive on the internet because the website they gave me didn't look right. Here is everything I found based solely on information they gave me and information gained from the website they gave me directly during the phone call. Note, they kept saying "look us up on the California Bar Association".

CSC, California School Coalition is nonexistent, period. I contacted my school and confirmed that any private loan was shown on my ledger, they confirmed the only private loan I had for my tuition was on my ledger, and since the private loan was THROUGH THE SCHOOL they could see that it was repaid in full and I had a zero balance.

The website for Harrison and Hall is stock photos and generic, AI generated phrases. The website has no information other than their address. The address directly from the website is 1968 S Coast HWY PMB 1021 Laguna Beach, CA 9265-3681.

Through Google Earth I was able to see that 1968 S Coast HWY is a business called PhysicalAddress.com, they provide PO Boxes for a price. PMB literally means Physical Mail Box.

A search on BBB.org for Harrison and Hall in Laguna Beach, CA shows the business was established 6/1/2023. Harrisonandhall.com claims establishment in 2015. They also list every manager, owner, ect. as Mr.Owner/Manager.

California Bar Association search yields ZERO results for a Harrison and Hall Law Firm/Litigation Firm.

They use Google Voice to have MULTIPLE numbers redirected to (786) 250-1059 which is a Miami FL area code, far from Laguna Beach, CA.

They used information from a zombie debt (an old, settled debt that is far past the statute of limitations for California) to try to scare me into settling with them to avoid litigation.

Called and left a message identical to the one posted here. Had all my personal information, I called them multiple times at numbers 619-655-3438, 949-522-8049 and 949-281-0355. The 619 number called and left the message claiming they were from Document Delivery Service. My boyfriend called that exact number back and got Harrison and Hall… looked up the address and it’s a flower shop… also the email from the second post [email protected] looked fake and cheesy. Plus their website has no numbers to call no pictures and no names of actual attorneys. FAKE FAKE FAKE

Called saying they have some legal documents to serve me with due to some debt I don't owe they called from two different numbers but wanted me to call completely other number after pressing them on the matter they eventually got upset and hung up. When I tried to call back it said that the number did not exist

Receieved vague voicemail indicating attempts to have legal documents filed have failed to (my home address) and now the matter has been forwarded to a law firm and to call 877-8+4-0582. Called this number and spoke with "Kevin." He indicated his office now hold ownership of this debt and I either need to pay/settle the debt now to prevent a lein on home. I have never received any paperwork via USPO or by any other service. I'm home 98% of the time due to disability. I've lived at my current address over 3 years. I requested documentation and the only way they would send documetation due to "deadline" was via email. I unfortunately & regret giving email address. However, the did send a document (very generic) through a document read&sign app. Wanting me to give credit card info and to authorize payment, which I did not respond or take any further action. Their website Harrisonandhall.com is also very vague & generic and no telephone numbers. Googled the address given but can't find the business on google maps, checked chamber of commerce and no business of this name is listed in Laguna Beach. Reported scam to State of Oregon DOJ's office.
