I was trying to obtain an EIN for my business from what I thought was the IRS. The website pretends to be the IRS & takes all of your information including my social security number & says they will provide an IRS Employee Identification Number.

After obtaining all of my personal info, they then ask for $399.00.

The IRS does not charge for an EIN so that was the RED FLAG. I immediately got off of the website & contacted the real IRS.

This fraudulent company has sent me an email saying I failed to complete my transaction & will give me an $85 discount to pay for an EIN.

I tried to apply for a Tax ID number, the first few websites that come up are (now that I know) scam sites, and not the IRS.gov site. https://www.irs-taxid-numbers.com/, this site was the site I used, seemed very legit, I entered in all my personal info (name, address, phone, email, SSN, business info) and clicked submit. the next page had me pay $250.00 in order to receive this TAX ID number (EIN). Once I saw this page, I stopped because I knew getting this ID was free. I never paid any money, but this site now has all my personal information including my SSN.

I was applying for an EIN on IRS website and was prompted to Govt Assist, LLC. I paid $255 fee for EIN. I found out about 10 minutes later it was a SCAM. I contacted the company and they refused to refund me. I spoke to a very rude person who hang up on me. I need a refund!

The website looks official, even has irs in the name. In a hurry I filled out my application and paid what I thought was the $25 fee. When I realized I had actually paid $255 I knew it must be a scam, I called right away to cancel it and they told me it would be canceled and I would be issued a refund. Then five minutes later the same number called me back to say the services had already been rendered and I didn’t qualify for a refund. Their site says next day service after 6pm EST. I sent my info in at 8pm EST, called within 5 minutes and they had apparent already rendered their services. $255 for five minutes of services!? No wonder they can afford their google advertising. I will make it my mission in life to shut these people down.

Scam $245 false information

BEWARE! This site comes up first on google and includes irs in its link - I, like so many others, thought I was at the IRS.gov website. This scam website takes ALL your critical information including social security number, then wants to charge you $285 at the end - for a free service. I didn’t finalize, but they got my data; they then they sent an email urging me to complete my order, including:

“The U.S. Treasury Department has extended the deadline for tax filing until July 15th.” ... [Which is erroneous - it’s last year’s extension date.] ... “If your business is due for a tax refund, now is the time to obtain your EIN and file your returns ASAP as the IRS response times may be delayed. File your EIN now and take advantage of the tax credits available to Sole Proprietors and save $85.00.”

This site says it’s an IRS “third party” designee, and has all the appearances of out and out trickery and fraudulent data collection. Please report to your State’s Attorney General as well as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, put an alert on your credit and social security number.

I need to cancel and cant get anyone to answer me I thought this was the IRS site and had no idea filing for an EIN was free. It is the first thing that comes up in the search.
