I found this link on Facebook. They advertised that if I sent them a starting amount of $2000 they would send me $100,000. I am handicapped and older so I fell for it. The money requests kept coming and coming. I sent them around $3,800. They had me purchase apple giftcards and then send them pictures via text and FB messenger of the front and back of the cards disclosing the access codes so that they can access these cards. Once I realized that this was a scam, I reported It to the police. EVERYONE BEWARE OF THIS SCAM AND DO NOT FALL FOR IT. Please contact me if you require further details.

A family friend started FB messaging me about how to get free money from the Social security Administration.

Reading how the text was written, I knew right away that her account had been hacked. So I played along so I could get the info to report it. Their stealing people's personal information and social security numbers through this tactic.

I'm including a screen shot. But I'm not sure if it's actually attaching or not.

So just in case I'm going to send a link at the bottom of this message as well. The scammer told me to message this James Mark person to get free money.

Here's the link,

A Facebook friend (probably a fake account) sent me a message asking if I had seen a previous message about the WFA Foundation Money she had just received. When I said I had not, she sent me Facebook contact information for an "Agent James Smith". This is the address: https://m.facebook.com/Agent-James-Smith-100778909223397/:ref=bookmarks

(Incidentally, my son thinks the picture of "Agent James Smith" is actually a picture of Mitch McConnell.)

I then had a Messenger chat with "Agent James Smith", in which he gave information about a non-public Covid-19 benefit program, but it required $3000 up front, in cash, and then US Mail postage to send that money in cash to an address he provided (see above for the address). Then, I was supposed to send another $7000, also in cash, that was to be provided by Agent James Smith once I had withdrawn the money.

My son became suspicious of this program, and did a Google search and found a Notice from the HHM Dept saying that a scam like this was out there, and they would never have a program that required applicants to provide money, let alone cash, up front.

My son and I were looking for further confirmation that this is a scam. I tried to reach out to my Facebook friends to ask to talk via phone. We guessed that she would know nothing about this, which would confirm that the Facebook/Messenger profile that was used to contact me about this WFA Foundation money, is fake. The phone number I was able to get for her was no longer in service. When I asked her via Messenger to please call me, she declined saying that she had some kind of throat issue, was in the hospital, and couldn't talk. This further confirmed for my son and me that this is a scam. The $7000 that was requested was never sent.

We have captured the full Messenger conversation with "Agent James Smith", and can provide that if needed. We can also provide the full Messenger conversation with my Facebook friend's fake Messenger acct.

Please let me know if there is anything further I can do. And, if there is any way that I can get my $3000 back.

I friend on Facebook messaged me claiming that he received a grant and that I should do it too. I messaged the guy Matthew Daniel and gave him my information. He said that I qualify for a grant and I should choose how much I can afford to pay in order to receive my funds. I chose $300 for $25,000.00 I went to Walmart and bought an apple gift card for $300 and sent him a picture of it. He said congratulations your funds are ready to be sent. Now you have to pay for shipping. He wanted $500.00 I told him I don't have it. He asked how much could I come up with? I told him $100.00 he said great. I am waiting. I went back to Walmart and bought a card for the $100.00 sent it to him. He said are you still there? I asked if something was wrong? He said management needs a bit more. Like $30 or $50. I gave another $30.00 then it was late. So he said that we would have to continue in the morning. I was then instructed to pay another $1000.00 because of an emergency winner notice. And that this must be paid before the funds can be sent out. This all seemed Phishy from the get go, but I am behind on my bills and the message came from an old friend. I didn't think that it was a scam. But after reading about it online. I need to report it. And I don't know how to recover my money.

So I started a go fund me page this person reached out to me as if they wanted to help and try to convince me to sign up for some kind of government grant when what they really wanted was all of my identifiable information they sent me a JPEG and tried to convince me to send all of my information to them in an email. He was impersonating a CIA agent that was supposed to be in charge of government funding ??.

Congratulations you are qualified for a grant of $100,000 which will be delivered to this address in 8/9 hours after making the payment of 1000 for the casing and shipping fees. The reason you are making this payment is because ypu won't have to pay tax on the 100k and you will not have to pay it back also. Then it was pay on the insurance and then the insurance went up. Then there was an accident and I had to pay 10,000 for the FF to release the package they were delivering to me. The it was stopped by Homeland Security and they wanted 10,000 and it went on and on and I have paid out 35,000 . I had the entire conversation on FB messenger and when I went back just now to get the addresses they had me mail the gift cards to. His name Agent John Silva Smith, the Agent in charge of the Grant program is no longer on messanger. His email address is agent [email protected]. Then over the next 6 weeks it was Homeland Security is requesting more more money you have taken too long to pay and then other reasons till I was told I was receiving the package on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 I received a FedEx envelop with a cashiers check drawn on Chase Bank fo 2500 tried to cash it only to find out it was no good.. I called Area agency for Aging and they helped me block John Silva Smith and his co partner Jerry Govan. I reached Donna Govan that night only to find out that their FB page had been hacked they had been tried getting it taken down but the imposters John Silva Smith were impersonating Jerry and Donna Govan to SCAM me.

I received a Facebook friend request from a distant relative. Someone I've never talked to before. They tell me that they got $200,000 in Covid-19 grant money and sent me the Facebook link to this page. Words are spelled wrong, and other clues that it is fake.

I got a message from one of my friends on Facebook that he just received a bunch of money and noticed my name was on a list of eligible individuals to receive a grant. He said to click on her message and she would send me a form to fill out which I did. She wanted to know if I owned a home, rented, had monthly income, to send a picture of myself, my phone number and address. I will attempt to copy and paste the entire conversation here.

Got an email from a childhood friend informing me that

she received a grant and would I be interested ,she was qualified for a grant, received money in 24 hrs She Felt i would qualify n sent me website.I went to website, applied for a $50,000 grant .A David Thomas approved me and was sent a qualification no(24-G-FT-20-19)As soon as I sent the $500 and the money cleared I would have my grant money delivered to my home. The fee was for"CASE FILE" &"FEDEX fee

I received a message from a Facebook friend asking if I received his message about an IDA grant program from the World Bank. He said he was helped by Attorney Kevin Wilson who helped him get $100,000 in low income assistance, and said to text him at 201 379 1786. This particular FB friend frequently finds opportunities like this in person, so I didn't think much of it and texted the number. I thought it was strange that the texts were coming through in all caps, but I figured maybe he was an old guy like my FB friend. He asked me for my full name and a paragraph on why I need the grant, then asked if I was ready to apply now. I said yes and he sent me a prompt asking the for the usual name, address, email, etc. information but also "hearing or deaf", "Do you rent or own", and "Would you like cash or a check". In addition to the prompt he asked for a picture of my ID. At this point my alarms were going off but I sent the info anyway, to which he asked me to send a copy "quickly" to another number, 575 449 7843. I googled both numbers and found nothing, and when I googled "Attorney Kevin Wilson" I found a fake facebook page. Hopefully nothing too bad comes of this.

On September 1, 2022 I got an in-message from a friend on face book, and she told me that she got $5,000.00 sent to her by fed-ex and that she took the check to her bank and cashed it, she said she saw my name on the list of people that were going to be granted the same amount by just answering a few questions about how much money I got a month, my name, date of birth, telephone number, address and gender and if the answers match theirs that the Government Organization DHHS would send me the money, after I sent all that info, Linda said that all I had to do is wait for the money from fed-ex, later she messaged me and told me I would have to pay $700.00 to the security person and Fed-ex employee and they would give me the check. But I got suspicious, woke up, and told myself it was too good to be true, so after messaging my friend back and forth, I decided to call her and actually talk to her about it and she said she never had messaged me at all and had not talked to me since last two months ago, so now I know it was truly a scam. I can't belive I almost fell for it.
