I received a text asking if I would like to work for Wal-Mart as a secret shopper the same day I received my valid e-receipt from my grocery order at Wal-Mart. I answered yes, and soon received a large envelope containing a check for $2380 with instructions to contact my supervisor at 501 800 8633 confirming receipt of the check. Instructions on the letter said to cash the checks at a bank. It also told me to go to 2 different Walmart’s and purchase 4 $500 gift cards, scratch off the silver and send them a picture of both sides of the card. I could keep $350 for myself and send $30 to the American Cancer Society.

When I did not respond at all, I received a duplicate envelope with another check for $2350. There was no contribution to charity mentioned. I then received a text from 501-800-9053 asking if I had received my check. The second text asked when I would get it cashed. I told them I would after I checked with the Better Business Bureau. Even this did not deter the scammer. Today I received a text asking how I was this morning. When I did not answer, I received another asking if I had gotten the morning message. I replied, informing the scammer that I had alerted the Better Business Bureau and not to contact me again.

Advertised on Facebook as WalMart surveys to earn $350.00 per "assignment". Sends a check for $2,350.00 which you are asked to deposit into your account and use to purchase WalMart gift cards. You are supposed to take a picture of gift cards and send by text message to your agent.

I googled this company and they are listed as a scam.

I received a cashier check from UNIFY Financial Credit Union for $2,350 from the Postal Service. I called UNIFY to check to see if it was real; they said it was NOT real. I received, with the cashier's check, a one page note saying what I was suppose to do (apparently, the note was written by someone who has less than a high school education). The note said in short, purchase 3 $400 gift cards from Walmart then call or send an email with the codes for the gift cards.

The red flags that I noticed was;

1) The cashier's check was for $2350; what was the other $1150 for?

2) They said "immediately call once the cashier's check was deposited."

3) They gave some BS about why they were targeted Walmart (see letter/note).

Cash check and Buy Walmart Giftcards then send card numbers and pins to Paul Brown. Check is fake. The business is fake and it’s only a text situation. This is the second check I received and I never completed the first assignment because I called the credit union and found out the check was bogus. Please beware and don’t fall for this BS. Something needs to be done about this.

I received an offer by text and completed an innocuous application to be a store auditor.

Today, I received this text:

Congrats!application has been approved-Designated Assignment location:Walmart,PAY $350.Assignment details & instruction 2 be received soon.Acknowledge if you receive this message.

Also today I received by priority mail 2 pages of detailed instructions for my assignment along with a check made out to me for $2,380 that I’m supposed to deposit in my bank account and use to purchase gift cards at Walmart, less my $350.

Pretty certain that the whole thing is a scam, I checked online and promptly located a related scam report. The victim claims to have had money somehow stolen from her bank account through transactions with this company.

I’m not bothering to get clear on any other details because my interaction with this company is over.
