The scammer created a TikTok ad which advertised an aluminum case for a phone. I placed an order for the case shown in the ad. What I received, however, was not an aluminum case, but one made of cheap plastic which was treated and painted to look like aluminum. The product was also damaged at some point during initial manufacture, packaging, or shipping. I attempted to contact the merchant via email, and they did not answer several emails over the course of about two weeks. I then attempted to call the customer support line and learned their phone number isn’t real (line rings and then an automated message plays which says the phone number is not valid). At this stage, I determined the transaction was fraudulent and I began reporting the business to TikTok and the BBB.
