Opened a legitimate site on my phone. A pop-up came into view stating that I had many viruses and must remove them now and go to the website to remove them. I tried to close the screen, but it was frozen. I then turned my phone off. I thought that would be the end of it, but we noticed the charge on our bank statement of $35.62 posted on 03/27/2026. I tried to contact the provider but didn't get anywhere. The number provided for Freshtech was (310) 527-0734, but I have no idea if this is legitimate as I received a message stating it wasn't a working number. We contacted the credit card company and changed passwords, but I am concerned as to how they used our credit card without permission.
