Federal Government Reports & Reviews (146)

I received a phonecall from a lady I could barely understand saying I was given a government grant for $8,500. They gave me a confirmation number and callback number and a name, Adrian Hayes. Sounds like a scam to me, as I never applied for a grant and it is never that easy.

- Kiester, MN, USA

So a person calls me and tells me that I have been awarded a government grant of $9,000 for being a good citizen for not getting any DWIs or I don't remember driving offenses in The Last 5 Years and they give me a second phone number to call and a identification number to give to a person that I call and when I call the second person the second person asks me for $250 so they are able to give me my $9,000 Grant and the $250 will be refunded back to me after I get the grant money it's just an able to release the grant they say the $250 is for and I have a choice where the grant is going to be discharged to I can choose Walmart or my checking account or MoneyGram or another place where you can drop money I don't remember what it's called but they know my first name and my last name and my address so they're getting their information from somewhere just be aware

Received a phone call from the number provided, stating I was chosen to receive a government grant of $9,000.

- Kokomo, IN, USA

The scammer told me I won a grant for 7,000 dollars. Because I didn’t have a criminal record etc. I won the grant. He gave me a confirmation number and phone number to call back. I was told to go to the nearest cvs, Walgreens, or Walmart and then to call the number. I had to do it right after the call that very moment. I said thank you and ended the call once I took the information.

- Akron, OH, USA

I have no idea what they wanted since I didnt pick up but the voice mail identified himself as the Federal Government and this needs to be rectified. He failed to identify what needs to be rectified. He also failed to provide his name.

Scammer contacted me through an Instagram friend he had hacked one of my church members instagram page and had reached out asking did I hear about the FGG (Federal Government Grant) so we communicated back and forth by the way they started days before today saying hello how are you something my church member would do so they told me I would receive 50,000 if I was approved for the grant I gave my info they stated I was approved and I would get 50,000.00 if I paid $500 for the fedex clearance fee to receive it with in 12 hours so I asked questions like was it real money did she really spend the money to know it was real and the scammer continued indicating how legit it was the scammer went by the name of Agent Haywood Mark they had me get 3 $100 amazon cards taking pictures of the cards and receipt to indicate I had brought it and that I needed to show the fedex guy the receipt when he arrived so as I sent the cards they claimed the cards didn’t work

Grandmother got scammed into giving them 3000$ saying she was approved for a government loan and they'd turn 3000$ into 9000$.

I didn't answer, the automated call left a voicemail: "... found that there was a fraud and misconduct on your tax file which you are hiding from the federal government this needs to be rectified immediately so do return the call as soon as you receive this message our direct line is 425-484-0618 again 425-484-0618 thank you"

Obviously a scam, no specific information, and I'm 100% clear with taxes.

I'm attaching the whole conversation. They were using someones Instagram account that I know personally so I'm not sure if she is involved or if they hacked into her account. They said that I qualified for the grant but I had to send money for ups to deliver it. They wanted me to send anywhere from 500 to 15000 dollars. Here is the text conversation that we had.

- Clifton, CO, USA

Thick foreign accent, said I qualified for a $9000 grant. I hung up before they had a chance to try to take money. I just filed another claim a few minutes ago with phone number 2006550000, which was a type-o. This was actually 2026550000 that I am reporting now. I apologize for the mistake. 2025555868 called earlier today. I didn't answer that call but I'm suspecting it to be from the same source.

This guy by the name of "Brian Dasler" has called my cell phone many times. I finally went along with him to get more info from him before they hang up. He said that the Federal Government has issued me a grant for $8500, it doesn't have to be paid back, and that I need to go down to the nearest Wal-greens, CVS or Wal-Mart as fast as possible. He also gave me a code number of CO22H. I call the number back just to see what they say, a lady named "Melissa Williams" says once I get into the parking lot of walgreens to call her back and she will tell me what to do. I have told these people to stop calling me probably 20 times. enough is enough

Last week I got a call from Steve Mike saying that I had a federal government grant in my name and I could the amount depending on how much I could pay for the insurance and processing fees (he said there would be no taxes). I picked the $100,000 grant and was instructed to pay $500.00 by Amazon gift cards and then another $200. I then got a text saying I needed to pay another $800. I told them I thought I was being scammed and he send me a picture of a UPS truck that they said held my winnings. I then told them I had no more money to pay them and called BBB.

- Waretown, NJ, USA

I knew it was a scam, i asked what I need to pay, they said nothing (until later) I gave dl#, i was given a grant ID number and transferred to a manager, he gave me his full name, Aaron Miller, and a phone number with an extension. I was asked how would I spend the $14,566.and was told it can't be used for anything illegal. And then I was asked for a bank or card number to put the funds in. I gave a prepaid credit card number I don't use and haven't in over a year and then I was asked how long will it take me to get to a western union to send $350 after I fill out the application, and that's when I hung up. And he tried calling me back a few times already..... Besides the broken English it was a elaborate soqunding scam. I don't want anyone else to fall for it. Said his name was Aaron Miller and # is 2028669083 ext 2041 government badge number AM154 in Nij. the numbers initially calling were 5697885124

I received a call from a someone with a heavy accent, claiming to be with the federal government in Washington DC. They claimed that I committed tax fraud and they would be here to arrest me within 24 hours. It sounded like a recording and not a real person. They requested that I call back on 302 956 3497 which is the same number they called from. I understand this is a scam but wanted to warn others.

A friend of mine received a Facebook message regarding a free government grant. The site was https://usamegalottery.nethouse.me/page/1018506

She was asked her full name, email address - then how much money you want for the grant and she picked $50,000 and within

24 hours she recd the money from UPS. The person who said she was my friend tried to get me to talk with an agent but I have not contacted

the agent. However, I never really contacted my true friend - I was skeptical and called the BBB.

I have received many calls from these people claiming that I owe them money for tax fraud.and when I call them back an confront them they always hang up on me because they are targeting old people. So be aware if they call you an have a middle eastern accent

- Staunton, IL, USA

The phone call started as an automated message. The message was saying that I was going to have an arrest warrant our for debt that I owed if I didn't pay it off. They said I owed over $4,000. I do not owe anyone. The recording also had a phone number to call about this. When I called it, they just wanted me to pay money.

They told me that I was chosen to receive a government grant of $9000. I didn't apply for a grant and I couldn't make out much else of what this person was saying.

I received a call on 4-16-18 from someone stating they were calling from the federal government. I was told by the person calling that I won a grant of $9,000.00 and I was told to go to a Rite Aid store and purchase a I-tunes card for $250.00 and call back them back with the card information. I was instructed to call 646-481-3615 and ask for Patrick Myers at extension 144 and that they would send $9,250.00 about 10-15 minutes after I provide the information on the card.
