Type of a scam Online Purchase
Since June 21, 2024 I have been contacted several times by emails and phone calls by a man introduced himself as “Dom Nelson- Content and Acquisition Manager, Tristar Pictures”, telephone number: 1-213-769- 0444; email address: [email protected]; office address: Content and acquisition Manager, Tristar Pictures, 10202 West Washington Boulevard, Thalberg 3111, Culver City, CA 90232. I have tried to paste the scammer's image of Business Card, and his picture here but could not. He has offered to purchase one of my published Manuscript entitled “UNEXPECTED” on behalf of Tristar Pictures and HBO Max. Mr. Dom Nelson’s information taken from Google is as follows:
Dom Nelson, Content Manager, Acquisition Manager, Tristar Pictures, Culver City, California, United States

•
Content Manager Sony Pictures Entertainment
Feb 2018 - Present 6 years 11 months, Culver City, California, United States. Please, double check if he is an employee of Tristar Pictures or Sony Pictures, in charge of organizing my above noted published Manuscript purchase; because I could not find him in those lists!!
*** On June 21, 2024, Mr. Dom Nelson has sent me a “Contract Proposal” bearing the Tristar Pictures emblem/ sign. He also sent me a “Film Rights Acquisition Agreement” bearing the names: “Nicole Brown and signature- President of Tristar Pictures”, and “Casey Bloys name and signature- Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HBO”. A copy of the above noted two documents [#s 1 and 2], bearing emblem of Tristar Pictures, are enclosed bellow.
*** On July 09, 2024, Mr. Dom Nelson sent me a “Letter of Intent” relating to my above noted Manuscript. I have tried to paste a copy of the letter, but could not paste.with name and signature of Ms. Nicole Brown (The president of Tristar Pictures). With this letter, he asked me to pay $1,000 “Licensing Fee” for the above noted Manuscript [UNEXPECTED], as part of the “Film Production Research”. Mr. Dom Nelson referred me for payment of $1,000 to a firm called “Writer’s Tale LLC/ Lex Literary Firm” addressed: 1654, 77th Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11214-1060, and email address: [email protected].
Before making the $1,000 payment, I Asked for a copy of Mr. Dom Nelson’s Business Card. He emailed me, which bears the Tristar emblem/ sign. This document, I could not paste here?! I also checked for authenticity of Mr. Dom Nelson on Google and Gemini. His position, credentials and photograph looked convincing, and this information, as typed above. Therefore, I have sent a $1,000 check to the above noted address in New York, which was cashed on July 23, 2024 by the Lex Literary Firm, and to my request a receipt was emailed to me as service for “Cinematic Resources”.
During the first week of August, 2024, Mr. Dom Nelson made several calls to me in which he was suggesting to me to designate a Lawyer Licensed in California to represent me for the Manuscript Purchase Negotiation. My attempts to find such Lawyer was to no avail, and I informed Mr. Dom Nelson accordingly. Therefore, he suggested a New York Lawyer called Mr. Barry Heyman, Esq to represent me, and gave me Mr. Barry Heyman’s contact email address is: [email protected]; telephone number: 1-424-345-2883. Mr. Barry Heyman asked me for a flat fee of $5,000 to represent me, with a $2,000 upfront payment to be sent to the above noted “Writer’s Tale LLC” address. Trusting he is a Lawyer, I mailed a Bank Cashier Check to him dated August 29,2024, which was cashed on September 10, 2024. He did not give me a receipt for my payment, despite my several requests. Instead, Mr. Dom Nelson of the Tristar and the Lawyer Barry Heyman asked me to pay $1,500 for the required “Worldwide Copy Rights Shareholder Registration”, before the “Manuscript Purchase Negotiation Starts with the HBO Max”.
Knowing that my published Manuscript was Copyrighted for life, and double checking this with my book publisher, this latest $1,500 request, without they doing anything for me, raised a red flag to me. I asked for Mr. Barry Heyman’s Business Card, New York and California Barr Association/ Registration Numbers. He did not provide anything. Search in Google and Gemini showed that there is only one true Lawyer in New York with the name “Barry J. Heyman”, who has a New York Barr Registration, but not that of California, as Mr. Dom Nelson of Tristar was requiring. Moreover, his email address, office address, telephone number, and his voice on the phone are all different from Barry Heyman representing me through Mr. Dom Nelson of Tristar Pictures.
All that summary looks like I was SCAMED by Mr. Dom Nelson impersonating as employer of the Tristar Pictures, and organizer of an elaborate scheme. I contacted all the three above noted venues to cancel the not started Manuscript Purchase Process, and reimburse me the $1,000 + $2,000 I paid them. As yet, I have had no reply from any of them. So, I am a victim of an elaborate SCAM. Surely, there must be numerous victims using the reputation of Tristar Pictures, their officials, and executives to illegally victimize people, especially the Seniors.
There is an urgent need to collectively help stopping or at least reducing such crimes in the streets, and in the process: (1) Safeguarding the reputation of Tristar Pictures, Sony Pictures, and the HBO Max, and (2) Before more people are victimized by these SCAMERS. I will be grateful if you could please double check the documents I have enclosed below, take measures to identify these individuals, and bring them to justice. Also, please kindly let me know of your findings, so that I can take the necessary action. Thank you for your time and earliest reply.
Respectfully,
Andy A. Afrouz
