A "Betty Donald" [email protected] emailed me that she had a Steinway piano (a "B7") to give away, and could send pictures. I was suspicious, but there were no odd links in the email, so I replied with my interest. I received photos, and a similar story to other scams reported on scampulse.com - husband died in December, moving to California, husband would not want her to sell the piano, etc. Piano was "stored with movers" so I should contact them with her reference number. I did, requesting the piano's serial number and an appointment to view the instrument. I received a lengthy description of a piano evaluation process that was not connected to any specific piano. So I spammed all Betty's emails and reluctantly bid the whole scam farewell.

It was last tuned sometime around December last year before he passed. I'm moving my properties to California and I don't think my husband will be happy if I sell this piano, at the same time, I am settling for an apartment with less space, so I'm hoping to give it out to someone who is a passionate lover of the instrument.

The Piano is currently in storage in Missouri with the movers I employed to move my properties from my house. In attachment are the pictures of the Piano. Do let me know if you are interested.

Happy New Year,

Betty

The movers technician assessed the piano before moving into their storage facility. You want to request for the assessment and total evaluation result from the movers, that might give you more insight about the general condition of the piano. You can contact the movers with your delivery address for quotation. Here is the movers information, [email protected] /Www.davidsmovingco.com Just let them know Betty Donald referred you with the Reference Code: DOS7905. Make sure to send an email for a faster response.

Please do feed me back as soon as you have scheduled delivery with them.

Greetings,

MENO: Victim of a Scam

To whom it may concern:

I was on the receiving end of an elaborate scam. It started from a former pastor who heard about a widower (Gay Stanek) would be giving away a grand piano. It was located in Kansas City MO. He just wanted it to go to a good home where it wasn’t just a piece of furniture, but it would be used.

I contacted the owner of the piano, the widower who was moving about the piano. He said it was a Kawai Grand Piano.

It was free but I would have to pay shipping. Through Zelle I paid $898.00 to David’s Moving Company on December 13. They were to deliver the instrument December 27.

On December 15, they told me there was an additional $327.00 for the climate- controlled storage that needed to be paid. I said that technically I am not the owner but the owner (Gay Stanek) was still the owner. I agreed to pay though since I was getting such a grand instrument.

On December 27, they informed me that I would have to take out a refundable insurance policy on the instrument. The FMCSA required that. They stated that the previous owner had sent them an original sales receipt for the instrument and it was worth $13,700. I would have to pay 10% fee that would be refunded. I got on the FMCSA website and yes, there were many regulations about moving items via the interstate. I paid them through Zelle $1370.00. This was timed perfectly with the “owner” letting me know they had sent a receipt to the movers.

On December 28, they wanted $542.00 more for a tariff again using the FMCSA to back up their demand. I FINALLY stopped paying them.

It seems that using a government agency to commit fraud should be a felony. Just saying.

Here is their info: David’s Moving Co. 1225 West 8th Street Kansas City, MO 64101.
