When I set up an LLC, this company contacted me saying they were my Registered Agent, and that I owed an annual fee. This was bogus. I paid it once, not knowing better. This year I decided that I did not get any service and did not want to pay. When I asked to cancel, they replied that they were the Registered Agent with the Mass Secretary of State, and if I did that without another service hired, lots of bad things would happen, including ending the business. My accountant showed me how to log into the Mass registry myself, where I discovered that they lied. We are our own Registered Agent and there is no need to hire some other company for this service. Now I caught their lie and really cancelled. This was deceptive and almost got me to pay again.
