We connected on a dating app in November and began chatting on WhatsApp. Initially spent a lot of time discussing values, common interests, etc. Eventually he began to talk about short term crypto trading, which is something I wanted to learn more about. He told me that there are good trends to take advantage of for a short time and showed me how to use a trading platform, trustfuturestrade.com. He never asked me for money but had me set up my own account and transfer my funds there. I began with a very modest amount, and he walked me through some trades. There was a profit. He also walked me through the process of withdrawing the funds, which I did successfully and without any issues. I began to invest more, and we started to trade together every night. He would contact me around 8pm US Central time to let me know that he was studying trends, then between 9pm and 10pm he would let me know if the trends were good for trading. Sometimes they weren't. There would usually be about 4 trades before things became unstable, and we'd stop. I never traded on my own, only with his advice. He pressured me to borrow money to use for investment, including a personal loan and a 401K loan, to maximize my returns in the short amount of time. I pushed back initially on any borrowing but what he said made sense to me, and I felt that I was in control of my money because I was the one making the trades on my own account and he never asked me for anything. He chose to add money to my account (as a loan) to help me earn more. He wanted to help me get my account to a 500K balance so I could earn a 50K bonus, which I received. I told him it was a goal of mine to become debt free, and he seemed very motivated to help me get there. Toward the end of December, I told him that I would need to make a withdrawal to cover my debt payments which were to begin in January. He said that I could withdraw at any time (and I had already withdrawn once without any problems). I attempted to make a 10K withdrawal on 12/30 and it didn't go through. I used the chat support to ask about it and they said I hadn't paid the fee. I wasn't aware of any fee so I asked David about it and he said that there is a 10% commission but I could just have them deduct it. The chat response was that in order to withdraw any funds, a 10% fee of the entire account balance needed to be paid and through a crypto transfer address and claimed the regulations changed to this pre-payment model on Dec 1. David acted confused by this and asked the chat the same question and showed me he got the same reply. This is the moment that really tipped me off because I have never had to pay a fee as a separate transaction. I brought it up with David the next day and told me to "find $XX,XXX to pay the withdrawal fee" to the charging address and I should ask my family or friends for help. I said I wouldn't do that, and I haven't done anything else with the account. I can still log in and see the funds sitting there. David has sent me a few messages but I haven't responded to him. I did a reverse image search and realized that he was obviously using another man's social media photos. I confronted him about that and he denied it. Then I quickly entered a debt settlement program. I know it's very unlikely my funds will be recovered.

It is glaringly evident that you are a recovery scammer. You say on your website that you have 10 years of experience, and yet the webarchive only shows you existing in 2024. Your team photos are stock images and there are reviews online of people who have been scammed by you. You are deplorable people, do you not have a conscience? do you not fear God? The Texas authorities will be coming for you...

PIG-BUTCHER SCAM: Reddit scams gives an accurate description of this very widespread scam. It started in China, and now call centers exist in Cambodia. Some of the scam call center workers may be forced trafficked labor (forced to work in call centers against their will). These pig-butchering call centers are run by the Chinese "Triads". The Triads are the name given to the Chinese mafia.

In a nutshell, a pretty Asian or other young woman (at least the photo) sends a text to you, which the sender pretends the text was incorrectly sent to you, and meant for another person. Then, since they read from a script, they say something like "Maybe fate brought us together".....The text message sender slowly builds up a friendship with you. (the symbolic fattening-up of the pig as in the name). and then, after maybe weeks or months after gaining your trust, they try to convince you that they made a lot of money in crypto. The text sender then asks if "you are interesteded in making a lot of money too?" The message sender claims that they will "teach you how to make a lot of money" after which the text message sender sends you a link for a fake, oneway, somewhat official looking app, that you put your hard earned money into, and never see your money again (the now fattened-up pig is slaughtered).....hence the name of the scam.

On both WhatsApp and on my normal SMS text messages, I have received probably 30-40 of these messages in the past two years.

A friend on Facebook said she has gotten her money mining crypto currency so I sent them money.

Promise of $1,500 if I went through steps. I have all kinds of videos, Cash App transfers, and messages from the scammer.
