I applied to an internship through Chegg internships to a company named Courier Express Limited. The supposed hiring manager contacted me a week later, asking to do the interview over a messaging app called The Wire. After interviewing with them through this messaging app, I was told to be put on hold as they made their decision. Thirty minutes later, I was told that I got the internship position. They told me that I had to download multiple softwares in order to complete this position remotely. The company would send me funds that I would use to get the software. This, along with other red flags along the way, made me think I was getting scammed. After doing a reverse photo lookup of the hiring manager, I found that the hiring manager's picture was a photo taking from a Norwegian professor at researchgate.net with a completely different name. I immediately knew I was getting scammed and stopped contact with the company. I then emailed the Norwegian professor that her picture was being used without her permission. I believe this website should be taken down in order to stop other people from potentially being scammed like me. I was lucky that I did not purchase anything yet, however, I want to be sure that other people do not fall for the same scam.
