Received a fake 501-corp form demanding payment

I received a 501-corp form from Corporate Processing Service that looks like it is from a government agency! Asking for business officers, address, and requiring $243 be mailed to 836 57th Street Suite 490, Sacramento, CA 95819, USA or a $250.00 penalty will be assessed and collected by the CA franchise tax board.

I can’t believe this!!

So I did receive the same yellow envelope like these other people did, I called the preparation school were I’m doing my contractors license with asking if I send it myself would I need to also send my payment ( I was told I didn’t need to ) so I filled out all my info without a payment and a few weeks I received it back with the payment highlighted and has to be sent back b4 September the 2nd… good thing I googled this place and read the reviews from all you guys, thanks…

Type of a scam: Government Agency Imposter

I received a yellow official looking envelope that resembles tax documents with a form 501-LLC (January 2022) to my business address addressed to my business name stating that I need to mail a check for $243 to Corporate Processing Service 836 57th St, Suite 490, Sacramento, CA 95819-3327. It states that I need to respond no later than March 15, 2022 and "Statutory filing provisions are found in California Corporations Code Section 17060, unless otherwise indicated. Failure to file the Statement of Information by the DUE DATE will result in the assessment of a $250.00 penalty which will be assessed by the California Franchise Tax Board, Corporations Section 1765(b) and 17653; Revenue and Taxaction Code Section 19141."

As you can see, the document sounds very official and has the same formatting as a tax document when you see it. It has areas where it states that it is not a government agency but the bolded sections of the document all point to penalties, due dates, due amount, and other items. There is an item at the bottom of the front page that states "this is not a bill. This is a solicitation." However, I am afraid that others will be fooled by this and I already know people that have just started businesses that have been fooled by these scams. The document looks very misleading because of all the busy fine print one would customarily find on tax forms and government notices. The back of the document even has instructions that look just like tax forms.

I knew this was not a government letter only because my business manager had already advised me that my statement of information for 2022 was already filed earlier this year.

Corporate Processing Service sends unsolicited 501-LLC form

Corporate Processing Service with address 836 57th St, Ste 4900, Sacramento CA 95819-3327 sends me an unsolicited 501-LLC form one month after I had submitted to the California Secretary of State an official California Statement of Information LLC-12 form online. The processing fee they requested was $243. Do they scam every company that submits a new/revised LLC-12 to the State?
This is obviously as scam for two reasons:
1. It costs $20 to submit the LLC-12 with the California Secretary of State, while this company is charging x10 more for essentially the same work.
2. I never heard of this company "Corporate Processing Service" and never asked for their help. Who are they and why do they send me letters like it's an official government paperwork sent by the government?
