Company Name Spoofing Reports & Reviews (288)

We are DirectTV subscribers and we received a phone call from 1-800-531-5000, which is the DirectTV customer service number. The person who phoned us posed as a DirectTV representative and instructed us to phone 1-888-314-0329 to receive further information about, and to confirm, a supposed promotion for a lower monthly billing amount with additional services added, including AT&T internet.

Upon calling the latter number, we were instructed to purchase a $250.00 Amazon gift card and to then phone 1-888-314-0329 within 24 hours to verify the gift card purchase, to provide the gift card number, along with a “code” that we were given, so that we could obtain the promotional pricing, and additional services.

Something didn't sound right about Amazon "sponsoring" a partnership with DirectTV and AT&T, so we phoned DirectTV to verify the above.

Our concerns were confirmed as there is no Amazon promotion with DirectTV and AT&T, according to the DirectTV rep with whom we spoke. DirectTV claims they will "look into this matter further...(through their)...back office."

The potential scammers have our DirectTV account number, our names, cell phone numbers, and address. They also phoned from the DirectTV customer service number listed above, and posed as DirectTV reps.

DirectTV seemed cavalier about this situation, which is why we took other steps to counter this situation and also so that others may not be duped regarding this situation.

The caller was allegedly representing herself as being with the Atlanta ScamPulse.com. I did a reverse lookup and found that it's a known scammer number. I am guessing that she was going to try to get information about our company, but since we are a business-to-business company and don't deal with the general public and we aren't based in Atlanta, I was immediately suspicious.

I received a call identified as Directv and was told they would lower my bill to $69.99/mo for 2 years if I prepaid 6 months with an Amazon gift card for $420.00. They knew my name, address, Directv account number and they were using the directv 800 phone number. Thankfully I looked it up online and discovered it was a scam.

Called offering free HBO for customer appreciation and asked to verify address, telephone. Called directv afterwards and they said that phone number was not one they would call from.

fake website selling fake ray-bans.

Today (Christmas Day 12/25/2017) I received a phone call at home from UPS (she said she was from UPS in China) asking if I would be home in the next 3 days for a package delivery that needed a signature and if the delivery address is correct, and I said "Yes". It has been in news that there is a new phone scam in the area and that the caller will ask questions to get you to say yes. I'm concerned that this might be what happened to me.

I received a USPS PRIORITY MAIL envelope sitting by my mailbox.

I had no idea what it was or who it was from.

I opened it as it was addressed to me.

In days prior to receiving the envelope I kept receiving very strange texts out of nowhere about kindly following instructions upon receiving an envelope. Asking me to kindly this and kindly that.

Once I opened the envelope I pulled out one single sheet of paper with a logo up in the corner that read " marketforce" and also enclosed was one single check in the amount of $2,250.00 . I proceeded to read the letter which started out with " Dear Participant, Congratulations! You have been pre-qualified to take part in Market Force Secret Shopper Program " It goes on to state that ( I )"will be evaluating Wal-Mart store services around my area."

And further down in the letter it states instructions which include purchasing an item not more than $50 , making 2 walmart to walmart money transfers each in the amount of $900 and transferring back to two names of receivers listed as :

(1) Receiver's Name : TRAVIS GOLDRING (2) ATLANTA, GEORGIA 30357

(2) Receiver's Name: GEORGE HOLIDAY (2) ATLANTA , GEORGIA 30357

Followed by instructions on taking notes of activities listed and after that it states " Please send Wal-Mart Transfer receipt via email and/ or text message to the Phone Number (678)257-7915

The sender and signer's name is "Ben Dards, Task Manger"

I keep reciveing phone calls from people saying they r with fed ex and they need my correct address so they can deliver it to me. They don't know I never ordered anything online. I lied about my address so they keep calling constantly wanting my real address. They have even made up a fake tracking number. When they called me they had my full name and a partially correct address which is kind of scary. When they found out I lied about my address somehow they dug up my old address that I used to live at and said that's not the correct one that I don't live there anymore. I just read they are needing your address so they can find out when you won't be home and they break in your house. Please be careful with these types of calls. Do not verify anything for these people!

Caller with thick accent said he was from AT&T and knew I was a senior on fixed income. Offered phone bill of $36.99 mo. I asked him to repeat everything and he hung up. Reported to att.

My mother was told in an on screen computer warning that if she did not immediately call 844-313-9359 that her computer would be compromised and inoperative. She called and turned control of her computer to the company who identified themselves as Microsoft. They then charged her $75 to "fix" her computer. She has had no problems since but I worry that the perpetrators could re-enter her computer or any accounts at any time.

Stated that i was to get the money back from a scam where i paid IOSHI of last year for computer service The man called Shaun called from # 1(265)489 6521 He got my credit .( I have notified the card company and my bank.). card # and bank #. He has all the ScamPulse.com logo and secure

info representing your Bureau including the ScamPulse.com secure web site info page. He is asking me to pay $300.00 for software I refused.

Offered a reduced rate for DIRECTV services if paying 5months in advance with Amazon gift card. They had my name, address, Directv package plan and supposed account number. They made themselves sound very legitimate.

caller call with my address information. telling my I could save on my direct TV bill. If I was to make a payment of 3 months in advance of my Direct TV Bill.

I called the scammer 800-351-5000, trying to contact DirectTV, but I misdialed! They asked my name and phone number, before building up to attaining my address. They tried to convince me DirectTV was charging me a certain monthly fee, they could help save me money on, but I only wanted help setting up my modem! Thank God!!

After persistently badgering me to take their offer, they finally realized I wasn't going to budge. They then switched tactics, alerting me to "crime rates" in my area, and offering to install a security system! They asked for my social security number, and I hung up. By this point, I was already thoroughly frustrated that the gentlemen wouldn't simply help me with my modem, and insisted upon trying to sell me on an offer! When he asked for my social, I knew without a shadow of a doubt, this was a scan! I suspect that identity thieves set up a contact number VERY similar to the customer service numbers of major businesses, and then proceed to attain their information! Thank God they prayerfully did not get mine! But I want them STOPPED! Please catch these scammers and put them out of business! I don't want anyone losing their hard earned money, livelihood, or peace of mind! Please help!

WE GOT THE INVOICE IN THE MAIL THAT SAID THAT IF I DID NOT CANCEL I WOULD OWE THEM $75.00. WHEN I CALLED TO CANCEL THEY ASK ME IF I HAD BEEN IN ONE OF THEIR OFFICES. I HAD BEEN IN THEIR OFFICE TO TALK ABOUT A CELL PHONE PROBLEM. NO MENTION OF DIRECTV WAS MADE IN THAT MEETING. THE INVOICE SAID THAT THEY WERE COMING TO INSTALL DIRECTV ON 1-3-18 AND IF I DID NOT CANCEL I OWED THEM $75.00. THEY ASSURED THAT THEY WOULD CANCEL THE ORDER THAT I DID NOT PLACE. THAT OFFICE HAS ALL OUR INFORMATION BECAUSE WE HAVE OUE CELL PHONE SERVICE WITH THEM.

I was contacted by someone representing Direct TV for a new promotion. They knew my name, address and the amount of my monthly bill and since Direct TV frequently calls to offer channel packages, etc. I fell for it. They offered to half my monthly bill for 2 years and give me the premium channels if I would pay $200 up front. I told them I had to think about it and they gave me a promotion number and phone number to call back to claim the offer. I had to pay with an Amazon gift card. I asked about that and why it was from Amazon. They said that Amazon was helping fund the package with ATT and Direct TV. I called back on December 5 and gave them the code from the gift card and of course, I did not receive any confirmation. I don't usually fall for this type of thing and I am concerned that this company had my bill information from Direct TV, that my mobile number is on the Do Not Call Registry and this got through and mad at myself because I know better.

"Sam" from "Direct TV" called to offer a super great deal. Got a bad feeling when he asked for my credit card info to get the promotion - told him I don't do it that way, to send the bill to my address. They said no, only can get the promotion paying over the phone. Called Direct TV after that and was told no one from there called me and there was no such promotion.
