Type of a scam Charity

I'm sorry that happened to you. We also met up with someone from Child Help on our way into a restaurant. They were standing in front of a table with a display and some paraphernalia. I looked up the charity online while we were talking and saw that it was legitimate and had a respectable rating. We made a small cash donation, after which we were told that some folks also gave an additional $30 on their credit card. The sales talk was persuasive and the representative was sincere. We were glad to help and we gave them our credit card details for the additional amount, but it wasn't made clear to us that we were signing up to give a monthly donation. I had to ask the representative for clarification on that. We were told that we could go online and cancel the subscription at any time. I didn't rush to get online, so I ended up getting charged for one payment of $30 a couple of weeks later before cancelling my subscription. I do not regret the donation because this is a legitimate charity that does good work. But in my opinion they deliberately obscure the fact that you are signing up to give a monthly donation when they are giving you their sales pitch.
