Central plumbing intentionally installed a valve backwards to extort money.
This time, from CentralPlumbingService.com, I was told that it was going to be $1,200 to replace a $2 piece of pipe, and that a "well specialist" would need to do additional work down in the underground well pit. We were not prepared to pay more than 3x what previous repairs had cost for the same job.
Exactly seven days later, a different number/plumber was contacted for a second opinion. THE SAME guy as before came out, and arrogantly stated that he now owns all of the local plumbing companies and whoever we call, he'll be the one to respond. In a time span of ONE WEEK, he went from a $1,200 base quote to the estimate pictured below - up to $5,600 for a $2 piece of pipe OR $17k for a full rebuild since I magically had such severe water damage that wires were arcing and all of my electrical equipment in the pit was gone and even my whole well and pump were shot. He continually stated that it was a fire hazard and that my home was unsafe due to this horrific state that my well pit was in.
Twice, my brother-in-law attempted to get my plumbing sorted after both encounters with Central Plumbing. Clearly, live wires were not arcing, because he survived climbing into the now flooded well pit to try to figure out what had been done to my well system. The pump was pumping water up out of the well just fine and filling the holding tank. The pressure switch was good. All lines were connected, and there were no leaks. But for some reason, water was not leaving the well house and flowing to the main lines underneath my mobile home.
Exactly SEVEN weeks and one day into this completely nonsensical ordeal, we got a well driller to come in and try to diagnose the issue - he came highly recommended, and is notorious for not charging an insane amount to drill a new well. We were prepared to completely replace the entire well and system from scratch if need be with about a $10,000 lower price tag than what Central Plumbing quoted us last month.
This man gets down in the well pit and within a half hour, I've got tap water flowing again. Here's the end-all kicker to this entire nightmare:
Central Plumbing & Drains INTENTIONALLY installed a valve BACKWARDS to prevent water from flowing into my home. The valve arrow was pointing back to the holding tank so that they could pretend that instead of a simple frozen and split line, I needed a full rebuild and an all new everything... even stuff that I didn't own, I suddenly needed replaced.
I've seen other reviews where Central Plumbing has been called CON-ARTISTS, CROOKS, SCAMMERS, and RIP-OFFS.
It's all true. Every bit of it. In addition to trying to extort my family and I by holding my water hostage, this chooch had the audacity to call up my mother and harass her about the initial $1,200 bill in which it was CLEARLY written in his own handwriting "no charge previous bill." Furthermore, it states on his own invoice "Payment upon completion of job." He threatened my mother that he was going to put a lein on my place - which is hilarious because it's a small claims matter, and he doesn't have a leg to stand on considering the job was never complete and it was never going to be complete until this [censored] bilked thousands for a two dollar piece of water line.
The Google reviews and other Facebook posts on this company align 100% with my experience, right down to them tearing up my yard and leachfield after MOVING a set barrier at the end of my driveway to avoid anyone rutting up my yard. I was initially trying to reach Kauffman & Davis, never these clowns.
Also, it only cost $100 to fix the issue.... which was a far cry from $17k.
I normally don't complain about things like this, but this was a completely unjustified and predatory move on a low income, single mother of two disabled children.
