Capital One Card Member Services Reports & Reviews (1)

- Iron Ridge, WI, USA

Name given by caller was David Rian. Called my cell phone from (920)253-0650. Stated he was calling to reduce my interest rates on my credit cards. He knew all my credit card numbers, expiration dates, balances, and interest rates. Even had my SS number. Said he could lower all my credit card interest rates to as low as 5%. When I said all my credit cards were maxed out, he wanted to know how much money I had available on my bank debit card or if I had any other cards he did not mention to me that had a $500 - $800 available balance. I told him no, so he processed to ask if I owned or rented. I said I lived with a friend to see what else he would ask me for. He then asked if that friend had a job or available credit. At that time I asked him for his name (David Rian) and a number I could call back if I were to agree to anything. He gave me (800) 847-2912. Both number were disconnected when I tried to call them back. I didn't give him any information other than the information he already knew, which was all my credit cards and SS number. As soon as I ended the call, I cancelled all my cards and reported to the 3 credit report companies, SS office and my local law enforcement agency. This person was able to tell me way to much of my personal information and that is why I continued the call to see what he all had. Credit card companies will not call you to offer lower interest rate, so don't fall for this type of scam. I was lucky that I knew it was a scam and was able to find out what information he knew about me so I could take the necessary steps to cancel everything and protect myself against identity theft.
