Our non-profit organization recently filed with the Massachusetts Secretary of State to be recognized as a non-profit entity in the state. We received two mailings from the Business Document Center (phone: (855) 203-5959) congratulating us on filing with the Secretary of State, and telling us to send them $87.25 to receive our "official Massachusetts Certificate of good standing." A very small line at the bottom of the document stats that "Business Document Center is a private document preparation service. Certificates may also be obtained directly from the Secretary of State." We then checked the Secretary of State's website regarding this issue and learned that certificates of good standing are always issued free of charge.

After registering a business in CT, I received a very official looking bill in the mail from "Business Document Center" (phone: (855) 203-5959) offering to obtain a "Connecticut Certificate of Good Standing." which "may be required for legitimate business purposes, such as opening a business bank account." In very tiny print at the bottom it says "Business Document Center is a private document preparation service. Certificates may also be obtained directly from the Secretary of the State."

Sent a "time sensitive" letter congratulating me on my business registration (which i don't have) requesting personal information and money. your site shows they've been trying to do this for months to various people. requesting I call with questions. I assume they would ask for my SS# etc if I did. the address is a UPS mailbox in your backyard

I just registered as a non profit. Scammer sent a letter congratulating me on registering my business and stating a Certificate of Good Standing is required. It had a QR code to scan for more information and requested the money be sent via check or money order. Listed as Form -BDC10.883(1)

I started a new corporation then I got a letter from Business Document Center, stating I needed to pay them $87.25 to keep my corporation compliant and in Good Standings. They said I needed to do this to get a bank account, get business licenses, etc.

I was sent a document that looked like it was from the state of Michigan. From "Business Document Center" . I asked SBA center in Detroit if this was viable. They said yes. So I sent in the document along with a USPS money order to them. They cashed the money order. I have tried to report to the police. They will not make a police report. I have tried to report to LARA of Michigan and they just do not care that money was stolen from me. They are allowing a fraud business to operate.

Scam letter received with qr code. Congratulating me on registering my business with the state. Requesting money for a Michigan Certificate of Good Standing. $87.25 payable to Business Document Center. I scanned the qr code to purchase and my card would not authorize. I then thought of recent scam alerts. I Googled to see if this was one. It came up as most likely a scam. I am now worried about repercussions from scanning the qr code. I have contacted my cc company. I have reported this to the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division and to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center. I have also emailed ***********@METROPOLICEGC.ORG.

Hello last month i received a letter from business document center congratulating me for my new business and asked me to pay 88 dollars for a Michigan certificate of good standing saying that the certificate was going to be required for legitimate business purposes. I thought the state sent me that so i paid for it. I still have the other half of the money order with me. since last month i never got that certificate. Last week i received the same mail asking me the same thing but this time for my second llc. I call their office to let them know that i didn't receive the certificate for my 1st llc but never answered me till now. With a few research on google i was able to find out that this is a scam. This is so disappointing and deceitful. In this case how are we supposed to know which mail is coming from the state and which mail isn't coming from the state ?
