Received postal mail and email that stated this needed to be filed. Took my information and credit card for a payment. Phone number isn't real and email address on website doesn't yield a response.

Every 2 weeks, they attempt to charge my credit card. I have since closed my credit card.

Business $349

I thought I was on an official government site filing my BOIR for my LLC. I didn't realize it wasn't an official site until they took my financial information. I'm not sure if my BOIR was ever filed and today they tried to charge me another $349.00 for no reason.

- La Marque, TX, USA

The website Boir.org looks like the official government website (boiefiling.fincen.gov/) for filing the mandatory but free-to-file form for Limited liability companies. They charged me $349.00, and I received a fraud alert from my bank. If you type in Boir in any search, this scam website is the top search result. They have my social and driver’s license info. Their site is not legitimate and a scam.

- Manchester, NH, USA

This website is a scam and makes you pay for filing a BOI instead of doing it for free through the actual government website. In very small print at the bottom of the website there is a note about no association to FINCEN where you actually need to file the BOI for your business. It's a sponsored ad intended to have users pay for filing and it looks legit. It's a scam to get people to pay for a free service that's available to all business owners and something that's required under federal law for business owners to do. This isn't something that should be able to be promoted as an available action as there's no way to tell if the actual filing occurs through this entity.

- Sun Prairie, WI, USA

I wanted to share a recent experience I had while trying to file Business Owner Information online. I came across a website, https://boir.org/, which seemed legitimate at first glance. However, after inputting all my personal and company information, I realized it was a scam. The red flag appeared at the end when they asked for money to complete the filing process.

BOIR filing website that looks like an official website, tricks you into paying them money to file a free report

- Atlanta, GA, USA

Website Boir.org setup purporting to be a BOIR filing site. Collected my personal info including a copy of my ID. Then asked for a fee to file the forms (which are free at the FICEN website)

- Phoenix, AZ, USA

Website mimics government website for filing BOIR reports. Several other fraudulent charges appeared on my account after using the site.

- Hoffman Estates, IL, USA

The website boir.org is posing to make transactions on behalf of https://fincen.gov/boi and has several complaints against it including mine. The website uses fear of penalty / imprisonment on unsuspecting individuals. They impersonate for https://boiefiling.fincen.gov/ which does not require filing at the moment and charges no fee. I have filed FTC report number 181733786 against them.

- Bogart, GA, USA

Website appears to be legitimate, but once $ is paid for a service that is free from a government site the website doesn’t work any longer and phone numbers are fake.

- Ballwin, MO, USA

BOI.org came up when searching for the site to file a BOI report which is mandatory for small LLC companies. Personal information including email, cell #, home address, business EIN #, valid state id and other information are all required to file the report. I was unaware that I was on the wrong site until a payment was required. Filing a BOI report is free. Please inform the public to only file a BOI report at [email protected]

- Cambridge, MD, USA

This website pretends to be fincen.gov for boi reporting. They do a sponsored ad on Google to be at the top. They charge $349 when it can easily be done for free. It’s absolutely predatory.

- Santa Ynez, CA, USA

Pretends to file BOI for business owners, while the real filing on FinCen is free

- Idaho Falls, ID, USA

Site pops up #1 on google search for boi report.

It claims to assist with filling out the report. You enter your business information then it asks for money. Looks pretty convincing

- Raleigh, NC, USA

Website claims Boir.org (Beneficial Ownership Information Report) is an officially authorized service provider with the US Government or the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). This is a free service offered and they charged 149.00 for no service what so ever.
