DONT KNOW WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE BUT THEY ARE CALLING AND TEXTING ME ABOUT A DEBT A PERSON WITH A FOREIGN ACCENT THAT I CAN BARELY UNDERSTAND WHAT HE IS SAYING AND HOW DID HE GET MY CELL PHONE NUMBER IS BEYOND ME I HAD TO BLOCK THE NUMBER BECAUSE HE WAS CALLING CONSTANTLY AND TEXTING ME AT LEAST 3 TIMES A DAY

Falsely Accused of Debt

Received a call from this company that accused me of taking out a $10k loan with CashCall for the down payment on my custom-built home. We had our home built in 1998 with more than enough capital assets and no need to borrow funds from anyone. This company is a sham. Do not disclose or confirm any of your personal information with them and definitely do not remit any money to them.

Type of a scam Debt Collections

I've been receiving letters stating that I owed on an old debt from 2010, which I thought would have dropped off my credit report anyways, but they told me otherwise when they started texting me, which I thought seemed really odd.

I contacted the credit union whom the debt had supposedly been with, but they said they didn't see any debt that I'd owed and I checked my credit report and I didn't have any negative marks on there for this debt I supposedly owe. They gave me an offer that would last for 24 hours that said I could give them a $5 payment to show good faith that I will pay on this debt. As nice of them as it sounded, I was skeptical, knowing that if I even give them $5, they could go and start charging my card whenever and rob my account. I told them that the credit union stated I should not trust it and that it is not on my credit report and they have continued to contact me about it anyways even after stating that I'll post to ScamPulse.com and they'll have to go apologize and say they are removing my account like everyone else on here if they don't stop. They just keep trying to convince me that this is a legitimate debt but that they have been so lenient with me and are really trying to help me.

I also recognize the sometimes poor English and capitalization of words that should not be capitalized. Also, after confronting them about not believing them, they accused me of calling and hanging up, though, I never attempted to call them. I felt that was very unprofessional, as well.

Also, in other messages they had sent me it gave a different box number to use, which is usually listed as "PO Box" not just "Box".

These things led me to believe that they weren't really in the United States, either.

Type of a scam Debt Collections

I called a number on my cell phone that I missed as an incoming number. They said they were attempting to collect a debt for the original creditor Check n Go. They said they bought the debt from another collection agency. They said the debt was for $165.00 and they were willing to settle it for half. First of all, I walked into the original Check n Go store in Oceanside, CA back in 2008 and paid the debt in full about a year after I took out the loan. Then, in late 2017, after another collection agency unlawfully discussed the same debt with my father in law, I called that collection agency and paid the supposed debt a second time. The funny thing is about this third time around, the debt is a different amount. I called the original creditor and they have debts of different amounts and there is no record of any collection. BHA told me that the original creditor would not be able to help me to get a letter of being paid in full or a client claim #. The manager at BHA said that with that information was the only way to cancel the supposed debt.
