they sent an email saying "Paid" and says it is my receipt to the Geek Squad. It is a subscription that will auto renew every 3 years unless I turn it off no later than 24 yours before end of period.

they have a number that I called and they are not speaking english and want me to go online and type certain things. Bottom line I think is: I purchased a computer from Best Buy over 3 years ago and the store is known for these tactics I learned. The computer comes with some free programs and I believe buyer can renew these things. I never renewed, never wanted to and think this is what they do. It is frightening and actually gets me sick. They had my card from the previous sale. What can we do? this is really taking advantage of buyers in my opinion.

Type of a scam: Tech Support

I just joined Best Buy Geek Squad. I called 805-475-3834 because I thought that was the correct #. A person answered and said they were Best Buy Geek Squad and they will have a tech call me back. A person who said his name was "John Williams" called me back - his phone # is 719-782-8433. I allowed him to remote into my new laptop - he purchased Amazon Gift cards and downloaded software onto my laptop. When I became suspicious I called back 805-475-3834 - and they insisted they were Best Buy and then a "Manager" name Paul called me - his phone # is 213-839-2536. He was part of the scam too. They did a remote session and therefore had access to all my documents. I do not know if they have my social security, driver's license and other identity documents so I put a freeze on my credit.
