a link from the ad on the msn home page to what looked like the bed, bath and beyond site. after shopping, i put in credit card#, address, email... and hit purchase. my bank called within minutes as they declined the foreign charge from Hong Kong. i talked to the manager at the local store and he said all online purchases were done with more than a month ago so that website was a fraud. i called my bank again and they reassured me that no funds were taken out and that my card was safe from them getting back into it unauthorized. i always keep less than $100 in that account specifically for suspicious purchases if i am not sure of the vendor.

 

it was a sidebar add on my msn home page. the website looked legit and i ordered less than $50 worth of stuff that was worth about $500.  my bank called me within 5 minutes and said the purchase was declined due to a foreign "Hong Kong" vendor.  i went to the local bed, bath store and they assured me that all online shopping was over and done with more than a month ago.  the bank reaffirmed again that no funds were taken out. of my account
