Received emails to multiple users claiming we had been reported to the BBB and we needed to download a document. Bogus complaint ID was included.

I am the assistant to the Realtor Shannon Schmitz. She received the attached email indicating that we needed to download a complaint that was filed against her with the BBB. We noticed spelling errors and the website the email was sent from were not BBB related so we did not download the attachment, but we may have downloaded malware if we had. Just wanted to make you aware that people are posing as BBB agents with spam emails.

GOT E-MAIL FROM THEM SAYING THEY ARE WITH THE BBB AND OUR COMPANY HAS HAD COMPLAINTS OF HEALTH/SAFETY CONCERNS WHEN WE KNOW THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO SUCH COMPLAINT AND WANTED US TO CLICK ON A LINK. WE DID NOT DO IT. I SIMPLY RESPONDED TO THE E-MAIL AND TOLD THEM THAT I HAD CONTACTED THE FBE AND THE BBB TO REPORT THEM AND 2 MINUTES LATER THE EMAIL ADDRESS WOULD NO LONGER ACCEPT EMAIL. THEY WERE WANTTING MONEY TO FIX THE COMPLAINT.
