Caller said that he was with the BBB and he was investigating a company that had taken $100 from me in a tech support scam. He wanted to return my money on behalf of the BBB, but he needed me to give him access to my computer. I refused and he became irate.

It was stated that I was involved in a complaint against an organization and was included as a witness. I was provided a case number and that I would be contacted within 48 hours.

- Shreveport, LA, USA

The e-mail was sent on 9/11/2017, but it went to my junk e-mail. I just saw it today 9/28/17 when I was cleaning out my junk e-mail. It looked suspicious because the e-mail was claiming to be from the ScamPulse.com and there were no official logos or contact information (phone number, address of the office) in the body of the e-mail. Therefore, I logged onto the BBB website and found that there were several almost identical scams reported around the same date. See below for the transcribed e-mail:

A message was left on my phone by James Anderson of the BBB of West Florida telling me I had won $2.5M . He asked that I call him back at 727-645-0026. I feel this is a scam. I did not call him back.

I received an email saying I had been reported to BBB and to click on a link for more info. I feel like it is a scam, but wanted to check.
