Someone by the name of peter from “at&t and direct tv” keeps insisting that if I pay 2 months in advance “$350” with a eBay card my bill will be lowered from $250 to $170 a month for a 22 month contract. For the past 4 days I have been receiving calls insisting to make the payment of $350 in order to get a $100 visa gift card in the mail.

Was called on my cell phone by a person saying he was representing Direct TV. He stated that Direct TV was losing a lot of customers because of their high rates so the were offering better rates for the next 24 months. He said we could bundle all our services for $170.00 per month. We would be required to pay three months in advance which would cost $510.00. Since this promotion was being sponsored by Ebay we would have to pay with an Ebay gift card. The representative said to buy the gift card and then call AT&T at 888-381-0068 and use Promotion code DTV031254 and then give the representative the code on the gift card. I figured it was a scam. So I called AT&T's customer service number on my monthly statement. The representative said he was not aware on any such offer. He gave me the phone number of a local AT&T store. I called the AT&T store and the representative was not aware of any promotion. He did say he would pass the information about the scam on to the store manager.

I got a call from AT&T/Direct TV (they said they were AT&T) saying that they had a promo to help me save money on my bill. I have AT&T/Direct TV so of course I never thought it was a scam. They said the promo was that I would have to pay the next 4 months of my bill up-front and the remaining 8 months would be locked into a contract for the price of $60.00 per month. They told me that I would have to get a pre-paid card and call him back with the number so the money could be applied to my bill. I did that and I thought everything was fine. The next day, he called back and said that the card number was no good and I needed to get another card for the same amount and call him back AGAIN. I asked about the money I sent and he said he would return it to me but it would be in the form of a check that was being sent overnight via FEDEX but I had to send another pymt to make up for the 1st pymt. It sounded fishy so I hung up and found my AT&T bill and called them to speak to a supervisor. I explained the whole situation to them and they told me that they had another customer that called about the same thing but it was nothing they could do about it. The real messed up thing is that these people have the same hold music, same recorded AT&T voice, same options (press 1 for English, press 2 for Spanish, press 3 for billing etc.) and almost the same phone number so you wouldn't think it was a scam especially if you have AT&T like I do.

receive text msg. last day to get 50% discount on your monthly bill use promo code: Ebay call 1-888-358-3751. I called they told me that I could save half my bill what I had to do is use an ebay card for 500. to take advantage of this offer to be effective because it was a deal with ebay and direct tv. also if you do 525. we can send you two cell phones and you do not have to pay for 12 mths . so I did it we are retired and I thought we couldn't not take advantage of this. the phone numbers associated with this are still operating. we are in such dire straights because of this. Please if you can do something b4 someone else is a victim.

Automated phone call asks for the last 4 digits of your Social and your AT&T account password. Then once your full AT&T credit card number so it can be reactivated.

I received an email from AT&T services stating that I had an order and it referenced my account number with AT&T. When I called AT&T they stated that I had no orders placed and that it seems that this was a scam. When I look at my order status through my AT&T website account it states that there is an order open through an alternate method and that it does not have information regarding the order. I never placed an order with AT&T. I have had my account with AT&T for several years. I changed my password for my AT&T account

Caller ID on my cell phone read “DirecTV” so I accepted the call with the intent to tell them to stop calling. Noisy call center background noise and a gentleman with strongly Indian-accented English informs me that AT&T DirecTV was losing too many customers due to bill fluctuations and are now, with the support of sponsor Amazon, offering reduced rates IF you prepay 2 months service with an Amazon gift card. Riiiiight ...

They told me to call back to the AT&T DirecTV “Promotional Billing Department” at 888-901-0168 and give them promotion code dtv1097

A quick Google search shows this is an existing scam.

Called from ATT and they said there was a system issue and needed to Verify my info. I have no ATT accounts. They wanted my social and banking info to "Verify" i was authorized. I hung up the phone.

Scammer keeps calling my parents house, claiming to be ATT, caller ID even uses ATT customer service number. Claiming that our service has been compromised, BUT we havent had ATT im several years. Clearly a scam. Do not give any personal information until this is resolved!

Received cell phone call with my name appearing as the caller. Recorded message indicated it was from AT&T (who would have my name as the holder of that assigned number) updating security, and asked me to enter the last four digits of my social security number. Message was very professional and efficient. I immediately called AT&T after the call to confirm its legitimacy, and the call was cut off partway through accessing a rep.

I called a phone call last night by my number I answered. Informed me of security breach and asked for last 4 of social and passcode to my ATT account.
