Requesting business services scam
Hi there , How do you do? I'm looking to hire an organizer to help put
my new home together. It is a 2 Bedroom apartment. I'm moving cities
to the Hendersonville TN area as I have just lost my husband and I want to be
closer to my family.
I have a delivery driver who is moving my stuff to the area. I will
need some help coordinating with him. Are you able to help with extra
tasks? . I'd like to hire you for 5 hours any day between the 10th
and 20th October.. Let me know what day works for you.
One more thing, are you able to accept payments via Quickbooks or
Square. My company is paying for this. Let me know, thank you
None of this seems really unusual at first. I responded with more information including debts I would send her an estimate for my services and would need to receive a deposit from her in order to schedule and did not in fact have QuickBooks and payment would need to be done through one of the many payments transfer services I use. She then replies with an email asking if I can pay her delivery driver $2,000 I'm just add it to my invoice at which point she could have her company pay me in addition to my service cost. She also sent me an address for where she was going to be moving to which was actually in totally different state. Absolute scam I've included her second email for you to read below

I'd like to book your services for 5 hours. The company accountant can make the payment via Square or quickbooks to hold down the booking. I need you to just help unpack and put the apartment together. I don't have a lot of stuff as most things will remain in storage. Let me know if you can come up with an estimate. I guess we can make Paypal work if you send a link that accepts Credit cards.
Can I ask for a favor? Unfortunately the delivery driver with the moving truck doesn't accept credit card or ACH payments via quickbooks or
square. He is not set up for it and prefers Zelle , Cash app or Venmo.
Can you add his payment to your invoice and when my accountant makes
the payment, you can send it to him via cash app or zelle. Then he will
be in touch with you during the moving process. His fee is $2000 so if
you can create an invoice for that and include 50% of your fee + $200.
I can have my accountant make the payment so the booking is secured.
