I went online to renew my car registration under the dmv.gov site, and they told me that they need to email me for verification. And, to proceed through the email . So, I opened my email, and they asked for payment, so I put in my debit card information. Then, nothing. No receipt or anything to print. So, I pulled up the transaction, and it said that I was charged $10.95, and I would be every month coming up. I realized that it was a scam, and I called them repeatedly, but there was no answer. I also emailed them, but no response . I checked my bank, and they did take the money out. I was able to cancel my subscription with them, so I won't be charged again. However, if they are doing this to thousands of people throughout the United States, I'm sure that this is very lucrative for them. I asked for my money back, but I know that I probably won't get it.

I went online to dvs.mn.gov to renew tabs for my car. Their screen popped up along with a picture of MN seal and requested license number. I know from previous online purchases at DVS, license # is required. I got all the way to entering my CC number but couldn’t remember my Expiration date so I thought I had backed out. I got a confirmation notice of my purchase a short time later. I called and asked for the charges to be deleted but she told me it said on the website charge was non-refundable. I did get a cancellation notice per my request. The charge has not hit my bank account as of yet.

I am pretty savvy about doing business online but this really snuck up on me and took me by surprise. When I realized it I went back online and found the real MN DVS online site and renewed my tabs.

I do have the payment receipt and the cancellation confirmation if needed.
