The scammer contacted our business website to purchase golf carts for their business. They acted as a local customer, set up an account, received our banking information for ACH depositing and even sent a purchase order which seemed very legitimate. When the customer came to pick up the property the drivers ship to address did not match the bill of lading, we were given. The driver had a delivery address of Bronx, NY while our bill of lading was for a Louisiana address. We immediately cancelled the transportation and closed the customer account. We called the national number for American Electric Power and verified that this purchase order number was a scam and that they see this happen often. I have attached the customers PO and accounting docs they provided.
