Amazon Imposter Reports & Reviews (1402)

- Nashville, TN, USA

I have received nine calls today from different number with the same beginning exchange. They all say “this is Molly from Amazon and your account was charged $649 from Dayton, Ohio.”

Clearly a scam. I’ve reached a foreign call center where they also play along with the scam. They asked me to sign in to my Amazon account and I refused, at which point they hung up.

was contacted by a supposed amazon security it support and wanted access to all my banking records and drivers license #.

I gave control through a remote application and they access my 2 bank accounts. when the said it was to out money back and then asked for my drivers license # I felt it was a scam. I changed my banking passwords andremoved the application. Not sure if they were trying to stop a scam or do a scam but they claim it was an amazon purchase of 120.00 and they would put it back and all my account had been compromised. No money seems to been taken out but I am concerned they actually wre hacking my accounts. They had access to zelle.

Party left message that Amazon delivery was being delivered. If I did not order to call 1-843-755-4894 but number on my caller as 603-728-1180. I called the 843 number. He sounded foreign and I told him I did not order anything from Amazon. He said to go to my computer and fill in an online form (which I did not). I asked what the item was, he said a Bluetooth speaker and I told him I did not order. He told me again to go online and fill out form and I told him no and he hung up. I then dialed the 693 number and it was out of service. Earlier in the conversation when I asked more details about the account he could not give me any info.

I received an email from someone saying it was from Amazon. I knew right off that it was a scam because the Order # wasn't Amazon

order numbers. I have had an account with Amazon since 2002. The one I got today was similar to the one I got last month.

The one I got last month said I had ordered a TV for $5,599.49 and if this was a mistake to call a number. Also that I had to sign for the TV.

I saved it but can't find it or I may have deleted it by mistake. But it was from the same person only thing the total was for the entire amount without the discount as in this email.

- Oklahoma City, OK, USA

Received a phone call that there may be suspicious activity on my Amazon account.

I received an email stating that a computer was shipped to a man in Florida under my name, from my Amazon account. When I called to inquire, they informed me my order had been cancelled.

Got a call from a Mr. Michael claiming my Amazon account has a bad charge on it for $2000. I called back and let them know I knew they were scammers, and I dont even have an amazon account.

- Washburn, WI, USA

The caller is using multiple numbers that appear to be local and calling repeatedly. Computer voice says it's Molly from Amazon and there appears to be a suspicious charge from Dayton Ohio on our account for $763 (or something like that). Then there is a prompt to press #1 to speak with someone/check into it.

- Tarpon Springs, FL, USA

I received a phone call to my cell, the number on the caller id showed a local area code but being at work I was not able to answer. I then received a notification that I had a voicemail message. The voicemail stated the following.

Macbook Pro will be delivered shortly in the amount of $1539 will be debited from your account for this purchase. If you authorize these charges no action required and if you do not authorize this charge press one to speak to a Amazon customer support.(End of Message)

This started with a call regarding an order. When I called the number, person on the other end proceeded to tell me of a package and what I need to verify. I advised had not authorized an order and would not be providing any pertinent information. I received an email with order information and Amazon attached. I verified my accounts were in good standing and obtain an email from Amazon to send the suspicious email received. There was no address of where the business however, I received an order confirmation # 75884582159 with confirmation delivery of tomorrow to Ronn Anderson, A-84 Walls Ave, Wilmington, DE 95852..shipping by ATS #22458156325478 --I knew it was a scammed as I have had some classes on how o detect fraud and scams. I felt the need to provide this to BBB. As stated prior, Amazon has been made aware.

This number called me and a robotic voice claimed there was a $720 purchase on my Amazon account from Dayton, Ohio (I don’t live in Ohio). I pressed “1” to speak to someone, and then heard a repetitive recording that said, “ple[censored]d to speak to your Amazon representative.” I hung up before someone picked up. When I logged in to my Amazon account to double check, there were no new purchases that may bestia description.

Got a automated call a woman’s voice saying I had a purchase was said so fast not sure what it was but it was over a thousand dollars. If I didn’t purchase to press 1, I did a guy with a India kinda Accent said hello. I said nice try ******* and hung up. Block the call I am not stupid enough to give an info out. But felt good to tell him off lol 1-716-983-2152 was the # that came up our area code is 716

- Erie, PA, USA

Received a call from Amazon saying that a $365.00 purchase was made to my Amazon credit card. Different messages left several times saying multiple different items were ordered on this card with different amounts and products. Do not have a visa credit card or account with Amazon.

Said someone purchased a laptop for 445.00 call back and give them information because it looks fraudulent I didn't call back

Call to elderly individual. Automated call stated they were Amazon and purchase was denied. Press number 1 to receive more information. Person presssed the number and was connected to live person with Indian accent. He said that a charge for $1400 on Amazon was denied. It was for an iphone. The individual had a family member who recently within the previous couple of days had purchased an iphone, but not from Amazon. He got confused and said yes that an iphone was purchased and authorized the payment. Now realizes it was not Amazon. Call back number went to "magic jack" number that has not been assigned, of course.

Getting calls from “Amazon” saying that there’s been fraud on my account. But the prerecorded message is clearly not Amazon since there are grammatical errors.

- Rigby, ID, USA

Left voicemail message: a charge of $799.99 was going to my Amazon account for an iphone 11. If it wasn't legitimate I was supposed to call back to 1-406-577-0340 to cancel the charge. I haven't called back to that number suspecting that it is a scam of some kind.

- Eden Prairie, MN, USA

Caller stated he was from Amazon and was calling to check a potentially fradulant charge. I answered the call in the first place because I had recently placed an order on Amazon. To resolve the issue, he told me that I needed to sign-on to my computer. I told him I was not going to do that, and asked him to explain the details to me -- reminded him that he called me. There were very loud noises and talking in the background, and some crackling on the line (and he had a strong accent), so I assume he may have been calling from abroad. I refused to go on line, and then asked him to provide me with the name of another number I could call him back at (and he gave me the same number he was calling from). Then, I asked him what city he was calling from, and he said "Seattle", and then I asked him to provide me with the corporate ID of the company or other identifying information so I could verify the legitimacy of the call. Once I asked that, he hung up.

Though I am very careful about such things, this scammer (and I do not know the ramifications yet) was a recorded voice, identifying herself as calling from Amazon.com to tell me a package I had ordered was delayed, and asked me to push one to get a customer service representative.

I did push one, which I immediately knew to be a mistake.

I understand that the purpose of the ScamPulse.com here is fundamentally to help protect others. But I was hoping, before anything came of my mistake, that there was some advice you could give to me that would help protect me from whatever this scam is about.

thank you.
