Here are the payment requests:
3/4/25: [email protected] - $500
3/4/25: [email protected] - $150
They also had me electronically sign a bill of sale and change of ownership document.
The next day, I followed up to see if they needed anything else to complete the process. They asked for proof of ID, requesting pictures of the front and back of my driver’s license. They claimed this was for the delivery driver to verify my identity upon delivery. They also said they would send me an email from the delivery company with tracking information.
On Saturday, I received an email from the delivery company requesting an additional $750 for a thermal-regulated dog crate to transport the puppy. I forwarded this email from [email protected] to Barb Brown and asked for clarification. She then told me her husband, Henriech, would call me (937-930-6840). Henriech called and expressed understanding of my concerns, asking how I wanted to proceed. I told him I wanted to explore another delivery option. He then assured me he would cover the cancellation fee and that the puppy would be shipped and arrive by Monday at the latest.
A few minutes later, I received an email from Barb Brown, stating that the cancellation fee was $175 and asking if I was willing to pay it. They then sent a request for $200 from a new email address, asking for payment via Apple Cash.
Here is the new payment request:
3/8/25: [email protected] - $200
On 3/10/25, I received an email from Barb Brown, forwarding a message from Michael from petexpresstransportservices, which included his legitimate contact info. This is a real delivery company. The email mentioned a delivery quote of $262.40. Henriech then called me immediately after the email was sent, asking if I had seen it. He told me that this would be the last payment, assuring me that I wouldn’t owe anything else for the puppy, and that it would be delivered by 7 p.m. that day.
However, a new payment request came in:
3/10/25: [email protected] - $265
I paid the requested amount and then called Michael to confirm the delivery. Mike told me that he had spoken to Henriech earlier in the day and had been trying to contact him about the delivery. Mike expressed his concern, stating that it seemed suspicious for him to be involved in what appeared to be a scam. When I told him about the quote, Mike confirmed it was a scam, explaining that a legitimate delivery of this type would cost around $1,500. He apologized for the situation and even offered to speak to the police if necessary.
While I was still on the phone with Mike, Barb Brown sent multiple additional emails, one claiming that the delivery driver was causing a delay and that I would need to pay an additional $200+ to proceed. In another email, she told me to stop contacting Mike and let them handle everything.
That was the last I had heard from them after requesting a refund.
