Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Alex Johnson contacted me via the OfferUp app. I was selling a mattress and he was interested. I don't know how he got my personal wireless phone number but then texted me. Asked about the item and stated he wanted to buy it. He stated he was a Marine and couldn't get to me personally because he was at a "camp". He wanted me to take a check, cash it, and wire the rest to "movers" to come get the item. I said ok and he sent the check. He sent the check USPS and texted me three or four times a day regarding the check. When I got it, the check was for a significant about of money over what I was asking for the item so I questioned him. He stated that the rest of the money was for the movers and that I should cash the check and wire it to a specific address he texted to me. Before following instructions, I looked up the names and address of the "movers" and him and found out this was a scam. I wasn't comfortable with this so I told him that I will not sell the item to him. Do not fall for this scam!
