Welcome to EXAM MATERIALS PO BOX 1601 Upland Ca. 91785
also called College Prep. 1 888 849 0041 See attached form...
Got a call back in June about SAT prep, etc. Then was charged 250 for materials, which at the time didn't think twice. Why because they also knew my daughter was in Honor Society, school name everything. Sent priority mail back, and then it was returned a month later stating REFUSED. I just called and left message again. So Im out 280..

A man called my husband's cell and affiliated himself with our daughter's high school by name. He knew the her name, our names, and that she's a senior. He explained that they were partnering with the school to provide ACT support services for seniors and that he needed to confirm some info with us to get the ball rolling for our daughter. He talked my husband into providing payment info and confirming our address. When my husband told me what happened, I explained to him that the ACT deadline for seniors had passed as college applications with scores had already been submitted. We called the company back and I explained that the test prep curriculum wasn't needed in our case. They told me that they'd already mailed the DVDs (yes, I said "DVD" in 2023...) so our only option was to return them once received and to request a refund. The DVDs arrived with a note explaining that they're a 501(c)3 non-profit because they "provide" exam prep materials to the less fortunate. Not sure how that's the case since they charged us $220 for 2 DVDs...ANYWAY, I followed their return instructions to the letter and sent their materials back with delivery confirmation. They received the package. No refund. No refund. I called and had to request the refund multiple times before it showed up, AND they docked us $20 for their initial shipping costs. Today, over a month later, they hit our bank account for another $100 with no notice or reasoning. I have shut down the bank account they're accessing and attempted to reach them via phone and have left messages on their phone with no response. They have no listed email address, no website, and no social media presence that I've found. Through research online, I've read about ACT prep scams and it seems that this scenario lines up exactly. I'm sharing with hopes that others can avoid this headache.

My spouse received a phone call from (Chad?) 888-706-0265 stating they were from a college prep company and that our daughter signed up to receive material to prep for her ACT. This seemed logical because our daughter did state that the school had been having communication with them concerning prep materials just days before this call. The scammer stated that he would send the material but would need our credit / debit card information first. Chad(?) stated that the material could be used for 30 days and then returned. If we decided to keep the material then he would charge our card $249.95 after 30 days. Well at the end of the call Chad(?) said that our card has now been deducted $249.95 and we would receive product in few days. Before the call ended my spouse stopped Chad(?) and said no, stop, you said my card would not be charged unless we didn't ship back the material. Scammer Chad(?) then stated that the card was already charged and that a floor supervisor would have to call my spouse back to get a credit back on her account and then he hung up. My spouse immediately called me and we contacted our bank but the charge was already pending. We have since disputed the charge with our bank. We did receive package with 2 - CD rom discs with a return PO Box# 1657 Upland, CA 91785 on the return label. I looked it up, I can purchase these 2 CD rom discs off of Amazon for less than $10. I have since called the 888-706-0265 number and when I bring it up the individual responds with an extremely bad attitude, will not give me any of his company information, says that he will have a floor supervisor contact me, and then hangs up. This has happened a couple of times. It's too late for me and I can handle the 90 days its going to take for my bank to refund this to me but please make sure that this College Prep? Scammer Chad? doesn't take money from any other hard working family.

I received a phone call and was told it was College Prep from College Board and that my son, (man told me my son's name) requested SAT study materials. He gave me my phone number, and address. He already had that information. He stated that materials would be sent for practice and that if they are returned that they would be refunded in three weeks. Callers said his name was Chad and even gave me a confirmation number and a call back number of 888-706-0265. He sounded very legitimate and already had a lot of information so I thought my son really did sign up for something. I had previously seen an email from a Chad and Test Prep services so I thought it was real. I did give him credit card information and he said it would be reversed once materials were returned after practice time.

I had a bad gut feeling and googled it and saw it was a scam. I called my credit card company right away to stop all charges.
