I received a postcard stating: "The refund amount has been obtained and confirmed through public records. You are at serious risk of losing your money. Your refund is from lost or forgotten funds, or an overpayment to a Texas based public agency and is NOT from IRS or a loan. You must act to recover these funds, it is not an automatic refund. Approaching deadline is mandated by Texas law. 100% RISK FREE - No out-of-pocket expense. Fees are normally received through the refund. YOU WILL NOT OWE ANYTHING if our services do not result in the recovery of your money. Professionally licensed by the state of Texas. Your recovery documents will be delivered, at our expense, by a mobile Notary Public." The post also lists a case number, my name, and a refund amount of $4,185.48. It states the refund source is "Texas Based Public Agency."
